Doug Chiang (b. 16 February 1962) is a concept designer that created much of the look of Star Wars: Episodes I and II. A graduate of the UCLA film program, Chiang began his work in the entertainment industry as an animator on Pee Wee's Playhouse and went on to direct a number of award winning television commercials.
In 1989, Chiang joined Industrial Light & Magic as a Visual Effects Art Director and worked on a number of major effects ILM projects.
He left ILM in 1995 to serve as the Design Director for The Phantom Menace and as a Concept Design Supervisor for Attack of the Clones.
In addition to working on a film of Robota, his Orson Scott Card-penned book, Chiang has since become a noted Art Director on motion capture movies directed by Robert Zemekis including The Polar Express, Beowulf, and A Christmas Carol. Most recently he was Art Director for Mars Needs Moms.
