Headed to Florida

Hello there. My name is Roger, I'm a current member of KSWCC, that's Kentucky Star Wars Collectors Club. I'm currently planning on moving to central Florida in the next few months. Most likely just a bit north of Orlando.

I thought's I'd do some advanced scouting to see what kind of club activity there is in the area, and it seem's that there is a LOT.

I'm a fan of many things, Star Wars is obviously one of them. I have a very large G.I. Joe collection, though only a modest Star Wars collection. Never-the-less this move is a major transition in my life, and it will include liquidating a lot of my collection, and getting down to just the very best stuff.

I should be attending Mega Con in a few weeks during our first house hunting trip. So perhaps I'll meet a few of you there.

After a very successful run, the Introduction thread is getting a facelift. How about we go around the Alliance and everybody introduce themselves. If you've got a picture to share, we'd love to see it.

Lurkers come out- here's a thread so at last you can reveal yourselves to the GFA. You're also welcome to start your own thread, but this is a nice way to keep most of the introductions in one place. Veterans and newbies alike, have at it.

Screen Name Explanations

We've had this on earlier incarnations of the board, but it's been a long time since this topic was explored. What makes you choose your screen/user moniker? I'll start.

I've gone by Sabacc since the early 90s when I was sabacc at AOL. When I first had my account I went through my Guide to the SW Universe (the first edition) looking for anything I found clever and unused and came up with the game of chance in the galaxy, far, far away. Since then I've grown quite attached to the pseudonym and since the rest of the world is not, I rarely have competition. On the rare time that there is a Sabacc before me I add my birth year, as here, thus making my handle sabacc72. An advantage about this name is that it's recognized by SW fans, but not by the general public.

So how about you, what's in your name?

My beautiful girl, Pin, has consented to marry the old Sabacc! I'm betrothed! We'll actually be getting married in a week's time with a Justice of the Peace, and sometime later in something a little more romantic.

I'd tell you we are registered at Toys R Us and Entertainment Earth, but I'm not looking for presents, just a few high-fives.

Darthovsky, a jeweler of sorts (I kid you not), has suggested the perfect wedding band.

Well, the answer is yes. We're shooting blue monday starting the 29th. I've just been moved from key grip to first assistant Director. So, basically everything is going to be on hold until after Blue Monday. We've also shopped a script around and gotten a backer for making Ventress Aveneue. We're moving full swing into preproduction after Blue monday. We've started some work now buthe main focus is getting one thing shot at a time. The fan flick has been posponed until the winter. Mostly because it is mostly exterior shots and shooting outside in florida, during the sumer, is a crap shoot. It's raging hot one minute and pouring down rain the next. I'm working first AD on ventress ave as well, so i've got alot of work coming up soon. Keep me in your thoughts as i work my tail off.

Hey gang,
In case you were wondering where I've been lately... Family emergencies. My mom was airlifted to FL Hospital last week with a head injury. That same night Arrow (my dog) got sick and the next morning was hospitalized and on IVs for two days. By now Arrow has bounced back (going stir-crazy, actually), but Mom is having a difficult recovery. I'm spending a lot of time taking care of her at her place (no computer access) and when I'm home I'm either catching up on housework or sleeping.

So I've only been keeping up with like 3 topics that tend to be time-sensitive. If you need me, feel free to call, email or pm.

Well, here goes... I lost my job about 2 weeks ago... It will be 4 weeks until unemployment kicks in and I can get any money... Problem = rent, untilities, and most importantly food... I've got an interview with Art of the Party tomorrow. If I get this job than I'll be making twice as much as I was working for the blood bank... Which = a very good thing and means The fan flick I'm going to shoot will jump from no budget to low budget... Kepp me in your thoughts. prayers, meditations or whatever it is you do... This is a cool free place to basically make your own tiny presence on the net. I just made one. It's quick and simple. Search for me with a keyword search of Darthovsky. People anywhere can basically find you with any keyword you mention in your profile. Myspace.com has understandably gotten some heat for stalkers using it to prey on kids. But they've taken measures to hide info of minors. Cool place. You can basically search for star wars fans, or people interested enough in Chewbacca to mention him in their profile.

Hey everyone. I wanted to write a message and let you all know of something. About a week ago my mom woke up with some back pain and she thought it was nothing. As the day went on it got worse and by 6 pm she was unable to walk. She went to Shands hospital in Gainesville and they found a viral spot on her spine and now she is paralyzed from the waste down. For those that I haven't met, my name is Walt and I live down in Okeechobee. I wanted to let you all know what was going on and I would appreciate your thoughts and prayers. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
