It's with great pleasure that I announce our next event to be held at Heroes Landing in Clermont, FL on Saturday, April 17th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Shop owners Todd and Stu have graciously offered to host us again and we have accepted.

Costumes, costumes and more costumes! I'd like to see anyone who has a costume wear it to the event. This is a unique part of Star Wars fandom that has been lacking as of late. Even if you have a costume that you are simply working on, bring that as well. You never know, we might even have a costume contest!

Star Wars Movie Marathon

Who's interested in a Star Wars marathon? At last night's gathering at Aaron's house we discussed the possibility of a marathon of movies. Who would be interested in attending or hosting something like this? Would we watch all six episodes as we discussed or break it into Trilogies? How about a season of Clone Wars? I'm definitely interested, and in the case of a full marathon, I've never watched all six Star Wars movies back to back. I think perhaps the Orlando System's closest effort was the day the Original Trilogy was released on DVD in 2004. Melanie hosted an all-day party that was a midweek day of fun. We all took the day off and made it a holiday party.

A date and time have yet to be determined, but the location will be Orlando. I won't divulge any details just yet, but I think everyone will be happy. January is sounding like a nice month to shoot for. It's prior to Mega-Con which will give us all a chance to meet and discuss our plans for that particular convention. Of course, by then we should also know the date and location for Celebration V as well.

While details are still being worked out, I just wanted to let everyone know that our next event will be towards the beginning of November. The original plan was to hold something in Tampa around the beginning of October, but there are too many people with too much going on during that month. So, in the next week two, look for an official date to be announced so you can mark it on your calendar. This event will be held in the Tampa area, but the location is still being discussed.

As always, suggestions for any aspect of these events is always welcomed and encouraged.

Help decide the fate of our July Meeting. After we've recovered from the Star Wars Weekends we're going to get back to basics with an Orlando Meeting in July. However, the exact date, time, and location have yet to be decided. Please put in your two-cents' worth so we can get the most people attending.

Trivia has been the most successful part of our meetings in the last six months so I hope Chris will keep up his role as emcee. We've had a lot of fun partly because of the prizes, but also because it gets us all talking about Star Wars in general. Rich's meeting in Port Saint Lucie had a room nearly devoted to items available for sale or trade. I'm very interested in having something like that in the future as well for those that want to participate.
What would you like to see?

It's that time again! We have finally decided on a date and time for our May Event. We will be joining SWGFA member Rich at his home in Port Saint Lucie on May 17^th at 1:00pm. Stay tuned for more details on this as the date approaches. I will be stopping in Orlando to pick up any member that wishes to join us. I'd really like to see a nice showing of members for this as Rich tries to get a local club going in his area. What better way to do this than to show up and support his efforts. This announcement gives everyone more than a month to plan ahead for the event, so let's make it happen!

The next meeting will take place at 2pm on Saturday the 24th of January at the Mall at Millenia Food Court.

OK, folks, by the end of this week I want to nail down a date for the January meeting in Orlando. Throw me some schedule ideas. The last I heard some Tampa voices noted that weekends would be best. I want to make this at a time when the most people can attend.

I'm picturing this at the Mall at Millenia food court, but other ideas are welcome.

Tampa Star Wars Club Meeting, Saturday 13 December

Who's interested in attending the Tampa Star Wars Club's meeting on Saturday the 13th of December? They're meeting at 2:00pm at the Citrus Park Mall in the food court right next to the Regal Cinemas movie theater. Chris, their President says there is plenty of room to bring items to buy/sell/trade or just to show off. They will also be doing Star Wars Trivia for prizes. It's their last meeting of the year and most likely will be the last Orlando System event as well so let's go represent the OS.

I am planning on going and my wife and I may even stay in Tampa overnight. Can't promise that I'll be a carpooler, but it's a possibility. Who else wants to trek over...

November Meeting / 'scribner Sendoff!

Who would/could come to a meeting of the OrlandoSystem at my house on Monday the 17th? It's the 20th Anniversary of the Star Wars Holiday Special and I think I want to have a little shindig to celebrate one of the most notorious pieces of Star Wars history out there. Thoughts? It's a Monday, so I know that's going to present some issues. I'm planning on taking the day off and I urge some of you to consider doing the same. The holidays are a time when the OS has to take a backseat to families and other commitments so this would basically be our end-of-year celebration so the more people we can get, the better.

Also, former Webaster Mike, the newly ~~martyred~~ married guy who created these boards, is departing for parts Midwest in a few weeks. This could be a great time for his Star Wars buddies to send him off and celebrate the love (niub niub).

October Meeting

Anyone want to set up an October meeting? I'll be on vacation from tomorrow till the 6th of October and through much of that I'll not have internet access so I won't be able to arrange this one. I'll plan on attending, but the plans should start being made soon to give others a chance to make plans. One piece of advice- the Tampa group is gathering on the 18th, so I'd suggest ideally we avoid that date to at least give anyone an opportunity to make both if they are inclined and able.

September Meeting

When and where should we have our September Meeting? Some people would like for us to rotate back to a weekend meeting this time, others say we should devise a particular place and time to have meetings so people could make plans to attend well in advance. No matter what we do, if we're to have a September Meeting we have to decide about it soon so schedules can be reckoned.

The meeting will be at the Mall at Millenia Food Court at 6:30pm on Wednesday, 27 August 2008. We'll have some special visitors from the Tampa Star Wars Collectors Club, grab a bite to eat, discuss the Celebration V possibility, have a bit of show and tell, and maybe do a bit of trading. See you there!

Remember how the library used to provide free meeting space? Need a DVD player and a TV- sure they'd throw that in. Now, for the most basic space, it's a minimum fee of $25. If we ever get around to having another actual meeting, we'll have to find a different space.

Ichnetucknee Springs Tubing

I brought on the last canoe trip the idea of Inner tubing on Ichnetucknee Springs (pronounced Itch-ne-tuck-nee). I haven't done this is in many years but remember is was great relaxing day. Just floating slowly down the river enjoying it's sights and sounds and the sun.

I was thinking Fri-Sat May 5/30-31 or Sun 6/1, after memorial day (may 26) when it's still not too horrifically hot (remember this is a spring fed river so the water's a cool 73 degrees)

Summer season starts that week and it would a be chill day prior to SWW madness which start june 6th. It's near gainesville so maybe we could conjole Laura and Beth into floating with us. Maybe even Audrey might be convinced to relax in a raft with Scott to navigate

If more than a couple of people are still able to make a meeting on Wednesday the 5th - this Wednesday- we will meet at 7pm at a location to be determined by Monday the 3rd. The location most likely is the Virgin Megastore at the cafe, but this can be adjusted based on who is able to commit. I am planning to be there myself. Hope to see you all!

November Meeting

Mike, Russ and I discussed a November meeting recently and came up with a pre-Thanksgiving schedule. As many people will be occupied for the holiday week we'll have it on Wednesday evening the 14th.

A place is not determined yet, but ideas are welcome.
