As we discussed in last night's small Orlando System/GFA meeting, we need to take the initiative to serve the community at large and show that the SWGFA can leave a good footprint in addition to bringing fans together. It's something we haven't focussed on in a long time. Times being what they are there are countless opportunities to make a positive impact on the world. Let's start a dialog about what you'd like to do and create a vision for what we want to and can accomplish. I'd like to see future group efforts, but this is a perfect place to talk about causes you support or already serve in any capacity. In addition to being the right thing to do, this kind of thing can help build our personal resumes, bring us legitimacy as a group, and even make us more attractive to Lucasfilm for future "endorsements." Who wouldn't love to follow the path of projects like the Pennsylvania Collecting Society's

Turns out today there were more layoffs at the Tampa Tribune. Right now the managers on my floor are all in a meeting, not sure as to why. Not sure what this means for me or anyone in our department at this point. Great way to start the week is it not.

How much of (we'll say any movie) Can you quote? For example-

Fantasy Football

I would like to put together a fantasy football league with people from the Orlando System. It will be fun league for bragging rights. I would like to have at least 6 teams with a maximum of 12 teams, having an even number of teams(which makes things easy all around). I use Fox Sports fantasy league which is free. If anyone is interested let me know as soon as possible so we can get started.

Okay, actually, we named her Artoo.
I got a dog on Thursday. This is something I've been wanting to bring back into my life for many years. Finally it's come to pass and she's here to stay! I'll try to get some pictures up over the weekend. She's a year old, we got her at Animal Services, and so far, wonderfully behaved.

What kinds of pets do the rest of you have? Care to share any pictures? Here's the place.

This is just a question from someone who's not paying attention as much as he should to the candidate's in this Fall's elections. Does anyone have any suggestions on who to vote for and why?

While I'm more apt to pull the Democratic lever than the Republican lever, I'm happily Independant. I'd rather have individuals to vote for, rather than parties without solid platforms.

Let's keep this civil, I'm just trying to ask friends what they think of the candidates instead of trusting the pounds (!) of flyers that I'm receiving in the mail each day.

If you read this, you'll likely laugh, cry, and wet yourself. This is a true story. It is un-freaking-believeble that Darthovsky would become involved in such a soap-operish tale of crime and intrigue.

The short version of my story is that I live at 'The Villas at Waldengreen.' The company that converted my apartment complex into condos and SOLD me my unit has gone bankrupt. The owner, Aleem Hussain (the actual person who sold me my condo) was just arrested in the Atlanta airport as he was trying to flee the country, hehe. L-O-freaking-L.

Now, I may or may not be screwed. It looks like I may have overpaid for my condo (about $190K for a 2 bedroom). BUT, Sabacc and I were talking, and thought there was an outside chance that I could somehow be grandfathered in to some future reincarnation of my apartment complex, where I owned my unit and didn't pay association fees or possibly not even property rent. OH, that is DEFINITELY how I would write the HOLLYWOOD...

The 71-year-old former philosophy professor stood impassively with his hands crossed in front of his waist as a court clerk read the sentence, ending a yearlong civilian retrial.

From time to time in the Chatter thread I record something about an experience out of doors. Be it on a hike, in a park, or looking up at the clouds sometimes you have memorable moments. This afternoon I saw two beautiful peregrine falcons sitting
on the middle of a power line about 5 feet from one another! I've seen them on perches like streetlights and powerline poles but never on the line, and I was surprised they were in the middle.

I walked around them and stood about 30 feet in front of them for about 3 minutes till one spotted something in

Flat Stanley - ideas?

My young friend Logan sent Flat Stanley to visit me as a third-grade class assignment. My instructions are to take Stanley to interesting places in our city and send back photos and comments about his adventures. Here are a few pics we've taken so far.
