That is really cool to see some non-movie shots of those places in Italy . What a thrill that would be to visit .

I talked to Lucasfilm about this. While they support the idea, they haven't shown any interest in taking part which is why we had to use the disclaimer listed below. This is more of a for fans by fans type deal.

Not to sounds unappreciative, but why doesn't team Lucas save the homestead? I understand fan sentiment about wanting to maintain the site, but I've seen Lucas over the years spend a ton of money on preserving the SW legacy. Why not make the pitch to him/the company to keep the homestead up?

Checking back in on this thread, I realized that the last two gatherings at Aaron's we've shown pictures from our trips. Mine was to San Francisco where I visited the OUTSIDE of Skywalker Ranch, Big Rock Ranch, and The Letterman Digital Arts Center.

Since some of you are new to the group and have just met us since Celebration V, I wanted you to know about our other member's recent trip to Tunisia.

Ha, I wish! We're going to make it to Muir Woods and Yosemite, but we don't have time to hit Redwoods (where the Speeder Bikes sped).

Make sure you get a pic of you running through the forest like you are on a Speeder Bike. Don't forget to make the sound also.

Looks like the Presidio (home of the Letterman Digital Arts Center) is in the plan as well as a night in Modesto (Lucas's birthplace and inspiration for American Graffiti). We might also see a Miwok village (the likely inspiration for the name of Ewoks).

I would never get these things approved by the wife if it weren't lucky happenstance. The cool thing is, so much of Northern California is tangentially related to Star Wars, it's going to be easy to see a lot of interesting things.

Have you been to a Star Wars filming location or a place significant to the franchise or other Lucasfilm project? I know Bret's going to Tunisia in May so I look forward to hearing about his trip.

I'm taking a short trip to San Francisco next month. I'll be hitting a lot of tourist spots and am hoping to fit at least one Star Wars one in the mix. Pin, my wife, is planning the itinerary, so I'll be lucky if I can make it to The Presidio or something. Anyone have any suggestions of destinations in Northern California that might make a good quick stop?
