Yeah, I know the ads are not a viable option right now. I just wanted to make everyone aware of it! Definitely check out the comic shop, you could probably work out some kind of arrangement with them. Most comic shops don't have an extra room, but they usually have some sort of space and tables and chairs. Libraries are always an option. You could even consider talking to local book stores about it. Focus on the fact that bringing in this crowd could also mean bringing their business to the store as well.

i like the sound of the comic shop . I wouldnt mind checking that out. I think we might ne on a tight budget for a while as this has been an expensive year. Some of the fun events were made possible by major financial contributions from a few idividuals since this group and its events are free to attend. Most of the raffle prizes given away were donated by some of the same individuals. I certainly want many star wars fans to be able to join but i dont think ads are necessary. We certainly exposed the swgfa to the masses at cv . Fans that were unable to attend can find out about us by a quick search or from other sw sites.
Event locations this year were awesome. Impo ; one of our biggest challenges is finding free comfortable venues for regular meetings. I wish more comic shops had an extra room attached.

The way things are working now is that we're having small meetings in casual places (homes, malls, etc.) like the old days then quarterly ones that are huge, like the last two at Heroes Landing where we've averaged about 100 people. Other types of meetings are worth considering if we can find the right venues. I definitely miss the old Orlando System library meetings where we had a proper meeting room, some A/V equipment, and 5-10 people just hanging out in one big discussion. Our Socials are a lot of fun, but they're too big to conduct any business.
