Anyone other than me think we'll see some Live Action footage at Celebration V? Even if it's just special effects test footage, I predict we're going to see this have a presence at C V. At CII we saw AotC footage, CIII we saw RotS footage, and CIV we saw Clone Wars footage.

Two words, "Sweeps Week." I think when they need a "power up" in the ratings they'll pull out the stops- though the stops might be short of what a lot of people might want. Recalling Harrison Ford's appearance in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, I can easily see cameos by Hamill, Fisher, Daniels, and Mayhew in a variety of different capacities. I think casual fans would make a special point to check out an episode if it was advertised that Ian McDiarmid would appear. And like you said, the occasional Stormtrooper garrison would bring a lot of people to the show.

I personally think Lucas will try and make these episodes consist of intimate stories with the Rebellion and Empire set as a backdrop to the story arcs. Sort of like seeing a bounty hunter along his travels come across a skirmish in the outer rim between some Star Destroyers and a Rebel unit. I have a hard time believing though that Lucas won't utilize the iconic SW characters in some capacity. As much as I love ANYTHING Star Wars related, peole will begin to tire of the fringe characters without giving them some kind of teaser or tidbit for their time. Maybe we won't get the Skywalker twins, but I have no doubt we're going to get a Boba sighting....I personally think we'll eventually get some Stormies, and maybe, just maybe we'll get the back right corner of Vader's cape as he exits the bridge of a Star Destroyer.

As the show goes on, more and more classic elements will be worked in. Just my opinion though, for what it's worth.

I haven't heard any references to this, but I think they'll find ways to work it in. The Force is more central to SW than individual characters. I can imagine it used in colloquialisms like religious epithets in our world. I also can imagine seeing a character or two that attracted the attention of the Jedi, via their Force-sensitivity, but who had been deemed untrainable or dangerous to train. The Jedi don't accept all the Force-sensitives they recruit, so there's room for non-Jedi sloppy Force action.

I know they say there will be not Jedi in the series, but does that mean there will be no Force users as well? Like Mara maybe, or just someone who has learn certain abilities on accident. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!!

Considering my original post was already almost 2 years ago, I'd say the wait will be as follows: - Another year and a half for the show to debut Fall of 2010 - One year after that for the dvds to come out - Another year for the deluxe dvds - Another 5 years for the special super deluxe dvds - Another 10...

Has anyone seen that Lucas has started casting for his live action Star Wars TV show?? They say he will produce a years run of the show - then find a network. Like he did with the Clone Wars Cartoon. Also says as we know... it takes place between Eps III and Eps IV and will not feature any main characters Like VAder etc. Does say some fringe characters will be in it (thinking Boba) and no Jedi - which I thought was interesting. No Jedi. Guess they are all dead but still interesting.

On the Force-cast interview from Celebration Japan last month, Steve Sansweet said his best guess for when we might see the SW live-action TV series is 2011. However, he made it clear that it really depends on where George ends up spending his time. Development continues on very-long-time project Red Tails and it is unknown where Lucas will decide to focus the majority of his efforts. For example, no one, not even George, expected him to be as instrumental to The Clone Wars as he's become (or the Prequels for that matter).

I can't believe they would ever get two shows going in production at the same time. They seem very slow !! I'd be ok with one series going and when it ends starting a new one. If they stick to a 100 episode deal this could happen - I think.

I totally agree, I don't care how much confidence one has in the production, it is foolish to put much faith in the average tv audience.
Or they feel that they don't need the large, general audience and they are simply wanting to make this for the loyal fans of the SW universe. Then that does make me think that they will just drag it out with low budget episodes because they know their target audience will keep watching. That would suck like Deep Space 9 or ST Voyager.

Rick McCallum talks about the Live Action series in the current issue (99) of the Insider. He again confirms that Boba Fett will play a part.

The interview appears to have been done in November and his timeline of when movement could really progress hinges on the writing, which I suspect has been drastically delayed due to the WGA strike.

We've all heard the notion that they'd like to have the series last 100 episodes. McCallum says "We'd love to get to 100 episodes, since that's the golden number for all television series," so I read that as less artistic drive and more marketability (syndication). I'm not condemning this. I just suggest that instead of Lucas having at least 100 hours of material imagined, that number is over-quoted and just an ideal goal of a producer.

This sounds good if still some what cryptic. I just hope it gets made ! At this rate it may be ten years before we see anything on the small screen. Plus, I really hope its good. Putting Boba Fett in it sounds like a very very good start. Also Keeping lots of Imperials and ships etc. sounds good.
