This photo was published on Star Wars.com back on September 12th, but is a really nice image from the formal announcement of Star Tours II.

The article notes that the current Star Tours will be closing in October 2010 for renovation.

I was looking through pins on PinPics.com and found one that had an interesting comment referring to the upgrade of Star Tours being developed a decade ago:

"I got one of these pins as a College Program Cast Member in the spring of 1999. A bunch of friends and I rode Star Tours about 20 times, while Imagineers loaded more and more weight in the simulator. They were doing tests for the stil not yet done Star Tours makeover."

Just a reminder that we've been waiting for this thing for ages!

Good or not, I'd bet my gold teeth that Jar Jar will have a presence, you're probably right. Not only does he fit the theme park audience, but the kids that are coming of age now are the kids that fondly remember growing up with the big orange lug.

The word came through this weekend. We're finally getting confirmation of Star Tours II. Coming in... 2011! It's all over the internet, but TF.n seems to have the best article for content and ease of reading. The trailer looks fan-made (almost a scene from 1999's wonderful Racer game) but it's the real deal.

I know, it's crazy. I can't remember 3 employees dying in all the years I've been going to Disney and I'm 32 now. Disney is settling for mega bucks, and trying like heck to keep these stories out of the spotlight as much as possible.

A Disney castmember was fatally injured last night during a rehearsal for the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. This was the third castmember death at Disney World this Summer.

Finally spotted the great Star Wars reference in the Indiana Jones segment of Disney Hollywood Studios' Great Movie Ride. As Sallah and Indy are raising the Ark to your right, straight across from them to your left at eye level are wall carvings featuring foot-tall R2-D2 and C-3PO. My new favorite part of the ride.

Some news, finally. Slash.com reports that shooting has begun on Star Tours II footage.

Yesterday was the third day of a secret LucasFilm film shoot in West Hollywood. If you were allowed to enter the "LODESTAR" production stage, you would've seen Boba Fett, Admiral Ackbar, a Tusken Raider, and even some Jawas. C3PO himself Anthony Daniels will be filming later this week.

So what is LucasFilm shooting? The good news is that George Lucas isn't making a another Star Wars movie (not yet anyways) or additional scenes for some super duper special edition. And No, the Star Wars live-action television series has yet to begin production. LucasFilm is shooting new footage for the Disney's Star Tours ride.

Anyone ever heard of ExtinctAttractions.com? They sell videos and music from the Disney Parks that is not commonly available. Does anyone have any experience with them? I'm considering ordering their Indiana Jones special and 4 CDs of master recordings from the attraction.

You could be right. I didnt specifically ask, but it did stand about 20 feet tall and the head moved back and forth. I'll be back there on Friday to pick up some furniture we bought so I'll try to get some better pics. For anyone looking for a life sized Jar Jar you can see him on the left too.

Thanks for the link to that place, I've never heard of it, but it sounds interesting.

I'm curious as to what that actually is. It's too small to be the main AT-AT outside Star Tours. I'd wager that it's the AT-AT from FAO Schwartz. I've seen that flat head before.

This thread is for discussion and news about the Lucasfilm/Disney connection. As a rule it's not about the collectibles side of things, that'd be here in the Sandcrawler . It's also not for specific Star Wars Weekends, as they'll be covered in the Events section.

This is for the revamping of Star Wars and Indiana Jones attractions at any Disney venue, with an emphasis on Disney's Hollywood Studios, since that's the best- er, the closest one.

A few days ago, all-things-Disney site Jim Hill Media reported on some interesting rumors about the Lucas/Disney connection. Check it out here, there are some neat developments afoot!
