Took an incredibly short trip to Star Tours yesterday and boy was I happy. I was with a castmember who was letting someone else in so I tagged along for a jaunt through the Studios. We saw that Star Tours had a 45-minute standby line and he'd not seen it yet so we got in queue. Or rather we walked where a queue normally is. He didn't get to really see the pre-ride displays because from gate to Starspeeder it only took 7 minutes! We made a beeline for the entrance right after the ride and again it took less than 10 minutes. A third try found us in a real line backed up to the entrance of the actual building so we actually headed out of the park.

Not surprisingly we saw Kashyyyk both times (and each opened with the Millenium Falcon) and I still haven't seen Hoth, but I finally got to see Princess Leia, which was a nice addition for me. The greatest part is that we started at 4pm and were back in the car 45 minutes later.

This past Sunday I was able to ride Star Tours four times and am extremely happy with the revamped attraction. My first two rides I went to Kashyyyk and Geonosis/Death Star. Despite missing those 54 variations, it was still great and there were still different characters and situations before and between the two scenarios. The next two rides I ended up going to Naboo, Tatooine and Coruscant, so the only planet I've missed so far is Hoth.

I printed out the Star Tours Passport and got it stamped by Fernando, Star Tours attendant and frequent SWGFA Event attendee. That was fun not only as a collectible, but also to keep up with my Intergalactic Destinations.

Hint: Once you get into the park head straight for Star Tours. Grab your Fast Pass and keep an eye on the Standby line- 40 minutes often means 25, which was my over my average wait time. The...

Posted this over in the Star Wars Weekends thread, but technically, it's better suited here.

I'm sure most have already seen the story posted on Rebelscum.com or TheForce.Net, but for anyone that missed it, here's my complete review of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. If you plan on riding this anytime soon, do yourself a favor and don't read the review as it's littered with spoilers of every kind.

I will say this: I feel like I was in a Star Wars movie...still.

Depending on how long the article is, it looks like I'll be picking up the next issue of twenty-three, the Disney fan club magazine. Coming the first week of May, it has a feature about Star Tours and the Indiana Jones attractions at Disney.

Orlando Attractions blog has another article about the upcoming Star Tours. Here's a brief excerpt:

After winding through the spaceport, guests board the Starspeeder 1000 spacecraft and prepare for Star Tours Flight #1401. Through a series of mishaps, however, C-3PO finds himself in the pilot’s seat instead of Ace, and it’s up to him and R2-D2 to navigate their passengers through the galaxy. However, the tyrannical Empire is out to stop the Starspeeder at all costs. C-3PO and R2-D2 take the controls and try to outwit and outrun the Imperial forces and a galactic bounty hunter hired to pursue the spaceship and its passengers.

Someone suggested that it might be due to an accident that occurred that resulted in a castmember death. I happened to see this post from the first page that reminds us of the date. Star Tours is coming to a Mall near you... it's already been to Miami and the travelling exhibit is coming to Jacksonville, Tampa, and Orlando in the next month.

Disney doesn't allow adults to wear any helmets or masks, let alone a 300 pound rc robot.
Heck! Last year I was in my jedi costume and a family came up to me for a picture, but they also wanted an autograph. So I just signed some random star wars name that sounded cool and took the picture with them. After the family left a Disney castmember came up to me and said I couldn't sign autographs on anything.

Are you talking about taking a life size R2 unit to SWW? I know the guy who build the R2 units for Disney. I had asked him one year if we could do a R2 parade at SWW like the 501st do. He said that would be impossible. It would be too dangerous.

Hope you can figure something out, Brian, but I certainly understand. I can't justify the cost of the annual passes either. It works for some, but no matter what, they cost a large chunk of change.

This thread is for discussion and news about the Lucasfilm/Disney connection. As a rule it's not about the collectibles side of things, that'd be here in the Sandcrawler . It's also not for specific Star Wars Weekends, as they'll be covered in the Events section.

This is for the revamping of Star Wars and Indiana Jones attractions at any Disney venue, with an emphasis on Disney's Hollywood Studios, since that's the best- er, the closest one.

A few days ago, all-things-Disney site Jim Hill Media reported on some interesting rumors about the Lucas/Disney connection. Check it out here, there are some neat developments afoot!
