This along with the apparent gutting of LucasArts last year seems to indicate that LucasFilm is taking a "downsizing" approach, which honestly I think I enjoy right now. There is a bit of an over saturation in the market as of late of merchandise, and it seems that maybe there needs to be a bit more of a lull again.

Seems strange with all the hype of the movies in 3D, the bluray releases and CVI right around the corner, though.

Star Wars Shop, open since 2004, is closing after this weekend for good. Sad news to me considering they've had some interesting exclusives and occasionally some super deals. Looks like it is business as usual for the moment, but this announcement explains the closure.

I wish I knew more about the circumstances, but if I had to guess I'd say it was due to some less than stellar-selling exclusives like the Empire 30th Anniversary Prints. I'll be very interested to see where all their stock gets liquidated.

Just found another book I wanted. Wish I had seen it before I placed my order yesterday so I could have just paid for shipping once. Oh well, still a good deal.

Took advantage of this sale yesterday (since it was active) and ordered two very expensive books that were made not quite as expensive because of the discount. I'll post details once they arrive.

I'm actually on the other end of the spectrum. I see this series as a way for twelve different artists to depict the different scenes from the film in their own way, thus making the entire set a must have. It's my favorite movie and I'm so glad they decided to do this. As for Nathan's piece, I prefer realistic art as a general rule, but A. this is very unique and different than most art we typically see and B. I want this complete set for my collection. I also love the fact that it's Hamill's son that is depicting Luke Skywalker.

It's not my cup of tea. I was even on the fence about the Tom Hodges one as I strongly prefer photo-realistic style images. The Trevas print (#2) is exactly the sort of thing I want from this series. They're too expensive for me to be a completist or to buy ones that don't appeal to me.

I hesitate to go any more negative than that as I was soundly shot down by Tom Hodges on Rebelscum when I voiced a negative opinion about Nathan's piece. However, Hamill's piece has not only not sold out of it's 100 pieces, but there are still 40 pieces available at this writing. In any case, I suppose it's good to have a variety of styles so hopefully anyone interested can get the one(s) that interest(s) them the most.

Yeah, I was impressed with the packing on these. SWS.com has been notoriously bad about packing artwork very well in the past. Because of the large amount of returns and exchanges, it's great to see them step it up like that.

Shipping is nearly $14 so a print shipped to Orlando costs me $88.94. It's high, but I can say they ship these things flat very well.

You'll see the abbreviation SWS a fair amount among online collectors. It stands for the official Shop of StarWars.com, Star Wars Shop.

They have a solid selection of exclusives at all times so I've ordered from them regularly. My latest acquisition arrived in the mail yesterday after being ordered in mid-May! It is a Fossil watch that was not even produced before October and was listed on SWS for a very brief time as it's limited to a very low 300 pieces. Mine is #55 and it features the face of Vader as seen on last year's Trilogy DVD box set.
