somewhere in the Administration Forum "feedback and discussion" (one page or another) is some info re: getting an avatar....

We have done a few different one up costuming days....once a sewing day, once a leather working day (for jedi belts and pouches) at Tandy Leather, a lightsaber day (which we consumed more time just visiting and watching various stuff and accomplished next to nothing on our sabers)

We attempted a weekly or other weekly sewing days but they never pulled together because of schedules and random unexpected events.

Hopefully after the new year, with CIV and SW weekends along with other events looming in the future months we will be having a few more costuming days or maybe even succeed every other week if not monthly day.

I'm not sure when we'll have another sewing day. Seems like Mondays are out for most. But it's just a bunch of us working on costumes of all types. Most of us are getting things together for Celebration IV. What kind of costumes have you made?

Sorry this isn't working out for you Audrey! Everyone should post their month's schedule and then we can do a little compare/contrast and figure out when the best time is, and possibly alternate days (like if tuesday, some people can make t, and thursday some others can make it) that way you could keep everyone happy! Goodluck with everything Audrey! Let me know when your next planned day is, and I will try to work my schedule to conform to it. If I can't make it, oh well! There's always next time!

Okay gang, I, um, well, GIVE UP! I don't think this is meant to be. Perhaps after the holidays we can shoot for another "one-off" workday like we had before Star Wars Weekends, that seemed to work pretty well. But I give up on the monthly idea.

Jose, I suggest you check out a basic sewing class if you've never sewn before. If you already have basic machine skills, then I suggest a "ufo" (UnFinished Objects) or "potpourri" class, which is how I got started. In those classes you can bring anything you want to make, such as your costume, and work at your own pace, with a teacher there in case you get stuck. Note that you need to have your own machine (this is standard; it's in one of my posts earlier in this thread). I would be happy to host, since (a) I already have a lot of sewing equipment set up at my house, such as a serger, that we can share; and (b) it would be really dang convenient for me. ;)

Who else is interested? What days/times work for you? We don't have to do the same day every month, so perhaps we can rotate it like the meetings so everyone who is interested can attend at least every other month.
