Star Wars meets Star Trek:

Don't know if anyone has heard of this but is an upcoming 3D animated feature with a 2010 release date. I couldn't find an available trailer but they did have a panel at this past years Comic-Con (you can find on you tube)

Quantum Quest takes place in atomic world, where the forces of the Core and the forces of the Void battle for the fate of the universe. The Core is a kind being, who lives inside all suns, his children are protons, photons, and neutrinos, which are created inside each Star, and are sent out into the universe to bring life, light, and knowledge. The Void, is that which existed before the big bang, he hates everything and everyone in the universe for invading his nothingness. The Void has an army of anti-matter that he uses to try and destroy the forces of the Core. An endless battle rages at the edge of our solor system, between the VOID and the Core's forces. Quantum Quest centers on the story of Dave, a young photon, who is forced out of the Sun on a journey of discovery. He must get to the Cassini Space Craft and save it from the forces of the Void, only Dave does not know exactly what he must do or even where the Cassini Space craft is or what it is. The forces of the Void must destroy Cassini before it sends its great discoveries back to Earth, and with the death of Dave's friend, the Ranger, Dave is the only thing that stands between them and victory.

Background on production:
Quantum Quest is a science fiction film that takes the viewer on an atom adventure in space. This film, featuring a cast of major actors providing their voices to the characters, was initiated by JPL/NASA through a grant from Jet Propulsion Lab via the international Cassini Huygens mission to Saturn. Though other missions have been seen in film projects, this is the first where NASA initiated the project with an independent filmmaker in order to create an animated fiction film to be based upon on-going missions, science, and discovery. The 3D, large format, CGI-animated education film interweaves actual space imagery captured from ongoing NASA missions with an adventure, set in an imaginary universe and intended to create a family-friendly film experience that entertains while educating viewers about our solar system. The film was tied into 7 on-going space missions and includes footage from the Cassini-Huygens, SOHO, Mars Odyssey, Mars Express, Venus Espress, and Mercury Messenger space missions. Quantum Quest will be released in both IMAX format and regular theaters worldwide. The film is 45 minutes long and will integrate pre and post theater educational program for K - 12 students that exceed Federal and State educational guidelines (*wikipedia)

Oh you've jinxed us now....... wasn't Jackass the movie (and sequel) enough "reality" movie we need. Maybe if they'd work some of the good TV shows on into movies instead we'd have something to go to the theatre for. I will say the reboot of the V series is actually good and better than that cheesy thing that passed before.
