Star Wars Fan Days IV has apparently been replaced by Star Trek Fan Days. This change is most likely directly related to the recent announcement of Celebration V in August of 2010, only two months prior. Special thanks to Abraham F. for the heads up! I've seen how Fan Days seems to be getting better and better each time, and I'd hate to miss another. But there is no way I can justify two Star Wars conventions in one year. Some of the talent and vendors would probably react similarly. They are just going with a Star Trek theme this year due to Celebration V being so close. With that said, I'm totally okay with this. My yearly trip to Talladega is at the very end of October into the very beginning of November, so with Fan Days being the week before, it's always tough. Now my October is free. And honestly, one per year is even pushing it. I love to travel, but with our budget we're fortunate to eek out 1-2 weeks of vacation most years. As much as Star Wars is my "lifestyle," as we've said, I don't want the majority of my trips to be focussed on fandom. Anyone that knows me knows that's not saying that I don't have Star Wars on the brain most days of the year. I just know that I'm not alone in having to make some choices. That said, I guess I'd have to go back to hoping for one major Star Wars convention per year. Even if I can't make every one of them, I do think it'd be nice for my fellow fans to have a shot at a major Star Wars experience every year. It's a paradigm shift. I am a US Celebration completist. I haven't become a Fan Days completist yet, but maybe it's time for me to accept that I'm not able to make every major Star Wars event. Makes sense as it allows them to get multiple franchise guests. Hope the Trekfans don't get bent out of shape. Honestly, I would really like to see a panel with Kirk and Riker.
