Star Wars Movie Marathon |
Lead | ||
|
Who's interested in a Star Wars marathon? At last night's gathering at Aaron's house we discussed the possibility of a marathon of movies. Who would be interested in attending or hosting something like this? Would we watch all six episodes as we discussed or break it into Trilogies? How about a season of Clone Wars? I'm definitely interested, and in the case of a full marathon, I've never watched all six Star Wars movies back to back. I think perhaps the Orlando System's closest effort was the day the Original Trilogy was released on DVD in 2004. Melanie hosted an all-day party that was a midweek day of fun. We all took the day off and made it a holiday party.

This is totally happening. I've got a ton of stuff going on and a lot to prepare for, but we'll nail down a date and time soon and make it happen. I'd like to see us start with Episode I and work our way up from there completing the Saga in one 24 hour period.

For something like this, I'm willing to head down there. Half-marathons are very do-able, but that's also what makes the full Saga marathon so special. It's not something most people can do with any sort of regularity. We're talking 14-15 hours of Star Wars immersion. It's kind of like a sweat lodge for Star Wars fans.

This sounds like a great idea. I have always wanted to have more in-depth conversations with you guys about the movies and what better way to do it then to have them playing as we do it.

I was in Target yesterday seriously pondering the sale Snuggies in anticipation of the Saga Showing. There's really nothing like hunkering down in an earthly version of the red Wookiee Life Day cloaks while taking in the Trilogies with friends.

Can we consider a date for this maybe toward the end of march? Rich's doesn't sound like a problem to me but because this certainly will be a longer event so timing for the day is a consideration

Rich, it looks like yours may be the spot if the offer still stands. What date would work for you and your family? Personally, as long as I have a few weeks I should be able to schedule whatever day(s) you think might work.

The offer still stands you guys let me know any day is fine if you want to do a Sunday into Monday or Saturday into Sunday or Friday into Saturday any time is fine. I will still be out of work so everyday is good for me. I think if we did a overnight marathon it would give us more time to talk and socialize just let me know what is good for everyone the end of he month would be fine.

A Monday would probably work for me. I spoke to Aaron last night who indicated that he wasn't looking to stay overnight. I'm leaning toward spending the night- if the host, whoever that is, is agreeable. If I'm driving a few hours both to and from, and spending possibly 15 hours watching movies, I'll run off the road coming home. Heck, I might run off the road just due to the insanity of watching six movies in a row.
I don't have a preference as to whether we start the marathon at night or in the day. -Campbell Help the SWGFA by buying through Amazon. |

I'm not necessarily looking to try and watch the movies all night long, but the purpose of a sleep over would be so that everyone was already there and we could start the marathon early in the morning the next day. We are looking at 13 hours and 45 minutes of film here. If we started at 6:00am, we would finish at 7:45pm. Now, if we're all in Port Saint Lucie with a hour and a half drive back to Orlando and a three hour drive back to Tampa, this is going to be the very latest that we could start to get everyone back home at a decent hour.

You guys tell me, anyone that want to stay can I don't have a problem with that if we start at 6:00am we have to take consideration for eating but I am open to what ever works for everyone. Like I said I have no schedule so who ever want to stay is more than welcome I have two couches and a futon that is like a bed and I think I have a king size blow up mattress and plenty of floor space and three bathrooms so we should be OK. So you guys work out what days and just let me know . Looking forward to having everyone here. |
