It's about time they figured that out. With all the stuff going on in Orlando this year, I think skipping a year wouldn't have been a bad idea. I'd be surprised if they find many Star Wars people to attend given that it's only two months after Celebration V.

From today's FX Show email:
"The Coolest Show on Earth!" is going to take place on October 15 - 17, 2010 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center! We are very excited about our new dates and location and expect that the change will truly enhance your FX experience! The Gaylord is spectacular! We have arranged an incredible room rate for you and by having everything under the same roof, we will be able to run "round the clock" events. We are currently in the process of signing guests for FX 2010 and will as always have the best possible guest line up.So this is good to hear. Hope it all works out, but what is this? No guests announced? Strange. I think I'm beginning to agree with you. Maybe they should have just skipped a year. -Campbell Help the SWGFA by buying through Amazon. |

We'd like to apologize for our delay in getting updates to you, technical issues have slowed us down, but we are now back online and rolling with great plans and news regarding The Coolest Show on Earth! Over the next few days, we will be adding contracts, ticket sales, hotel info and everything else you'll need to plan your FX experience for 2010. |

You know, I've kind of got the bug after Celebration. Part of me wants to get a booth at FX. It'd be a whopping $525, but we could sell things as well as get exposure for the club. I've never dealt with the whole sales tax thing, so I don't know much about how we'd have to work that. Any interest? One 10x10ft booth comes with two tables, a chair, and an exhibitor badge. Additional badges are $50.

I'm not sure the table at FX would be worth the spend. The show looks to be small potatoes and poorly thrown together compared with what Megacon is already advertising (Shatner, Stan Lee, et al). IMO, the spend would be more worth it to hold off and invest for Megacon. That would allow enough time for planning and funding and discussing what the group would be hoping to get out of their investment. It would also avoid spending while a good chunk of people are already spent out and would be skipping FX as a result.
It would be good to have a discussion at the next group meeting about things like this and/or dues, etc. It's always a great vibe and fun to hang out at the larger meetings, but maybe we can put a bit of an agenda together for all the dry stuff prior to the hanging out portion of the meeting?

kyzman wrote:MegaCon is $725 ($675 if we commit by November 10th) for a booth and comes with three exhibitor badges. At either of these we could hopefully get a group of people that wanted to sell items, and a few of us that would run the booth. I'd definitely like to be one of the people running the booth. I like the idea of a pre-meeting before the October meeting; Chris and Rich and I will be announcing something soon, and I think that will be part of it. Thanks for the tax info, Olando- I'd never looked into that. -Campbell Help the SWGFA by buying through Amazon. |

I've had really great success with splitting a booth at FX.
All of us were able to sell more that we thought we would, and got to see the show. Those of you that have a good amount to get rid of may want to consider this. If you want to get people interested in the club, make sure that you have some kind of raffle, give away, or activity. http://www.OrlandoMobileTinting.com |

I hope to be able to attend this event but at this point I am debating if it is even worth the cost of admission , parking , and gas.

kyzman wrote:Ouch. Just checked it out, and three guests? No one I want to see, either. Damn. Then again, I've not been to FX in quite some time. And I have to save money for Shatner. I simply must get his autograph and the additional 'photo op.' Sigh. Still, worth it, it's The Shat, after all. He doesn't come around every day. Rescue 911, baby!
THIS IS NOT AN EXIT.

Think Megacon would be better. I will be going to FX on Sunday, missed the last two yrs due to workups for deployment.
My user name should be MoK13, still trying to figure this out.

I went to the site just to recall the ticket price and they've got that part shut down with a big statement just to let you know that tickets are non-refundable. I may pass the whole thing this year.

what a foul mouth ! did you mean shut down?
No ticket info for a show that was planned at the last minute and is only 38 days away ! That sucks. I really don't think they should bother if they can't make it be the same time of year . I started going to January FX shows and looked forward to making it a regular event. It should be a free show. I wouldn't mind paying $5.00 to get in.

If anyone is interested in getting autographs other then getting Star Wars autographs. They just added more people to the roster. You can see it here.

I think the Spooky Empire show has better guests than FX this year: http://www.spookyempire.com/guests/
