As many of you know there will be a booth for the SWGFA whereever Fan Tables are set-up. Rich, Justin, and I will be regular staff for this, but we need to wrangle volunteers to work it as well so that everyone gets a chance to enjoy the show. We'll have a 10x10" area with a table and 2-4 chairs, a slideshow of pictures from past GFA events, a home-made giant AT-AT by Justin, flyers to hand out and a limited number of our free patches to give out each shift.
Soon there will be an announcement about the patch project and how it'll be handled at Celebration V. As some of you know there is an extremely small number of large patches that were made with the full Boba Fett image and all five club names. Three (3) of these large patches will be given away in a lottery to our members who work the booth. For each 2-hour shift you staff the booth you will get a ticket for a chance to win one of these large patches. For example, if you work three shifts, you'll have three chances to win one of the large patches (and no one volunteer can win more than one patch). Everyone's welcome to hang out at the booth, but only 2 people on each shift will be eligible for a lottery ticket.

I will be hoping to work the tables too as well. I will do as much as I can but may also be helping out as a Staff member. I have a friend Tom who I'm trying to join the group too who is going with me to Celebration and I might ask him to help out as well (IF that is at all cool). The scan is not the best but this is were we are we are at CV. It looks like we are on the corner in a main walk way. We should get good exposure.

Yes, we have a great spot and should have good room to display the AT-AT Walker and the other larger things we are bringing in for sure. I'm real glad the table is in the exhibit hall and not in its own hall like at Celebrations past.

We need to make sure Justin knows about this. If we come up with enough items for the tables we could a second table. Unless we leave an opening so that people can get pictures with the AT-AT.

The Alliance Council and Justin (whendroidsfly) are working on some pretty neat ideas for our booth which include some very nice flyers (to distribute), t-shirts (to wear, not to distribute), our banner, a slideshow of past activities, the AT-AT, and our Patch wedge.
However, we can always use more input. Do you have any ideas that you think might make this a particularly interesting booth? Can you think of a game or method of giving out our patches creatively? Got a large display or collectible you'd like to show off? Let us know! This is everyone's club. We'd love help volunteering, but even if you aren't able to do that, you can help with the creation of this booth. Regarding activities at the table, The Jawas, Mark and Kay, suggested: On the blog you ask for ideas about giving away the patches. You know how there used to be games where you guess the number of gumballs (or marbles) in a big jar? What if you did something like that, but make it Star Wars-ey. Fill a jar with loose figs. Have people guess the number. Anyone within 5 (or 10 or whatever) wins the prize. Every now and then, take a few out or add some, so the correct answer keeps changing. What would be REAL cool is if you could get a big enough jar of JUST the figure weapons (guns, what-not)! "Step right up! Guess the number of itty-bitty lightsabers, win a prize!" I can just see a classic old-school mason jar full of just little lightsabers... awesome. But where do you get that many? Just line the outside and fill the center with something else? My At-at will still be in pieces so I don't think we should count on it being a feature of our booth. The Echo base hall section is however very cool and large enough for people to stand under or in front of and take their photo. I will carry it over in the truck on Wed. morning

Chris I am in town call me in the morning to let me know what you are doing. I also spoke to Justin and he said the AT-AT is not complete I told him to bring it and we would make it work.
I think we will be at the convention center all day but I could be wrong. Talk to you in the morning.

I'm in for a full day on Wednesday. Set-up runs from 8a-5p. Pin will likely be with me, but we'll figure that out Tuesday night.
As for the AT-AT- I agree with Rich. Who knows? Maybe we can set it up as a crashed AT-AT. Can you imagine how cool it would be to have an AT-AT sitting down like in Robot Chicken? What a ride! I thought the booth looked like a million dollars and a lot of that is thanks to Justin Slade, the man behind the ice. Justin created the arch of an Echo Base Hallway that really made our booth look professional, appealing, and impressive. A big thanks goes to Rich for bringing the laptop and monitor, staffing the booth for much of the convention, and surprising us with some very cool new signs. We also could not have done it without the help of the volunteers David Ross, Mike Arnold, Justin, Mark and Kay Minckiewicz, Russ Sawyer, Adam Kaczmarek, Alex and Will Eveland, Jackie Moore, Susan and Ric Luoma, Michael Duron, Dan Buetens, and Mick Celli. All of you made it a far better convention for me so I could occasionally wander around and get the Star Wars Celebration experience.
