WOW! What a great time. I was only able to attend Thursday due to work but it was an event I will never forget! Took tons of pics, bought lots of swag. Probally the best for me was getting the Star Wars Year by Year book and having it autographed by Ryder Windham. See you all at the next Celebration!!

Awesome...pure awesome!
So many highlights and so few lowlights. Some of my highlights: - Experiencing SW over 4 entire days through the eyes of my daughter. This was truly a special weekend that I'll never forget. Having "celebrities" treat her like a princess. Jeremy Bulloch and Alan Harris are Gods to her now. Both were extremely gracious gentlemen that were overly nice to her and made her eyes light up. Now, I have a 10 year old girl obsessed with bounty hunters. I suppose there could be worse things. - Costumes, costumes, costumes. So many people in such a variety of impersonations. I saw the good, the bad, and the ugly. Way too many Slave Leias (wait...did I just say that?) and way too many poorly designed Mandolorians. - The TK helmet project. Truly amazing stuff. I rarely wish I had tons of money for frivolous things, but man, did I want the JJ Abrams and Daniel Logan helmets (one more reason to envy GL re: the Logan helm) - Droids! Aaron - I have a new respect for what you guys do. I know that my buddies, Dave and Rich were hooked and I'd expect them to be looking into the builders club shortly. - Freebies, life sized props, and overall goodwill with a family reunion feeling. I will say my biggest lowlight were the lines. However, some companies, like Gentle Giant took care of people waiting with freebies (like bust-ups) and gave back to their fanbase with great displays. - Panels. I missed the GL circus and watched it on Youtube instead. I couldn't see the point of watching it on a video screen in the center when I could do the same thing at home at my leisure. However, so many other good panels and shows were to be had. The one man show was great. The SW tattoo competition was awesome and the collector panels were entertaining (ok...some of them were worse than watching paint dry, but they were the exception). The initial panel of "what's coming up for SW licensing" had some incredible give aways. For once, Campbell's knowledge of the Holiday Special would have paid nice dividends. I'm talking EFX helmets and high end stuff....for free! Too bad I only knew one answer and I wasn't as rude as the guy in front of me yelling out the answer instead of raising his hand. Oh well...lots of fun anyhow. - Seeing so many friends and catching up. This was a great party and it was fantastic being able to meet up with so many folks over the weekend. I can't wait to make the trip next time for the next Celebration! My pics are up on FB (even my encounter with Adrienne Curry) |

Great round-up, Kyle! I'm really glad you enjoyed it so much and I hung out with you and your daughter enough to see how much fun she was having.

Olando- great videos! They really helped bring back the memories.
Also, Aaron, I like your video of Ben Burtt meeting C-3PO. That was the same person from Star Wars Weekends, right? -Campbell Help the SWGFA by buying through Amazon. |

It was great how this was more of a family event compared to Megacon. The kids all seemed to be enjoying themselves. Susan's kids are funny. They have the unique ability to roam around, unsupervised, and not get into trouble. Kyle's daughter just out of the blue gave me one of her clone wars prizes. That was very sweet. Rich's son Lucas was filmed during a saber battle and you can see the video on day2 coverage at starwars.com . http://www.starwars.com/inc/video.html?vidId=001070

I wish I could have met a few more people at CV. I didn't have internet access in my room ($11 a day, yeah right) so I was pretty blind throughout. I did stop by the booth and talked with a few SW fans, but for the life of me, I can't remember names--one was a US Marshall, another was wearing a Rays cap, and another had curly blondish hair. Sorry guys! I am terrible with names.
My favorite moment was talking to Carrie Fisher. Being called sweetheart and having her be so nice was just great. Also, during the rebroadcast of the Main Event, I snagged a Vader T-shirt that was thrown into the crowd. Pretty nice. |

- MarkMarkMarkMarkMark Hamill... Seriously, that dude has to be the coolest and sweetest celebrities in existence. He tossed a little Joker voice at me simply cos I mentioned him. He was extremely gracious and genuinely enjoyed his fans.
- Both Robot Chicken panels. Seth is hilarious - "Bring me Gordon!" - Most of my lines. Made new friends, made the time pass superfast, one person even shared some swag she'd picked up that I hadn't had a chance to get. - Tour to Endor. We decided literally with about half an hour to buy tickets to go and seeing the Indy show alone was worth it, partly cos George himself was in the same audience. So cool! - SPAAAAAACCCEEEEEE. Seriously, someone complained about us paying for wasted space but I would GLADLY pay for that much space again. People were a LOT less pissy simply because they had space to move around (aside from those super small areas in the 100/200 area.) Also meant we didn't have to deal with much con stench. I'm usually yelling something about deodorant consistently at MegaCon and I actually barely got a whiff of BO at all. - The Mixer. Totally lame till the limbo got things rolling but man. Turned into a rockin party after that. It was a little sad to have the -entire- dance floor covered in dancing people totally enjoying themselves while surrounded by just as many people who did nothing but watch us dance. No one cares if you've got moves or not people, just shake ya booty and live it up! - The cast of Clone Wars. I met only a few but they were all amazing and really were having fun with us nerds. - Dave Filoni. That moment during the panel on Thursday, when he answered the question about whether we would be seeing more Jedi force powers.. There is rising suspicion that George may be grooming him to take over if/when he retires and after that moment, I have absolutely NO issue with it. - A volunteer named Cindy. We were standing behind her in the line for James Arnold Taylor, the cap of the line Sunday evening. She had a poster with the main cast of Clone Wars that had all but two autographs, Ahsoka and Obi. She managed to get someone agree to take the picture in for Ashley to sign but they didn't really speak English so she got to go in and translate for them. She exited that booth and came running for James' autograph just as we were finishing up. To be there to see the completion of something so epic was a perfect cap to a wonderous weekend. - Last, this was a cool little thing: my bro-in-law was gonna get Clone Wars autographs on Sunday. He asked me to bring his season 1 dvds, which I promptly forgot in the hotel room. (oops.) Well, he and my sis had participated in the Droid Hunt (one of the greatest con ideas EVER, plz plz plz do it for MegaCon or sommat) and they both won raffles. So they ended up with 4 action figures, two of which were perfect for the autographs he wanted to get. |

I agree about that space we had. It sure was nice to not be so crowded. I really enjoyed meeting so many nice people from all over.

Nice highlights, Kiss. Makes me remember so many good times. I only wish I'd gotten a few more names of the people I met in lines. There were some really cool folks out there, and my lines went by fast as well because there was good will in the air. Here are some of my best memories.
* Meeting Robert Watts. I've seen him in a couple of panels previously so I knew he was a character. I also waited in line as he chatted up everybody about everything. I was really happy to take a turn at that and loved getting to wear his Finse ESB crew coat. * Meeting Nick Gillard. He's one of my favorites of the Prequel crew so I was really glad to take a few minutes and thank him for some wonderful stunt choreography in Star Wars and other movies. I asked him why he had such strange hair in many of the behind-the-scenes videos and he explained that it was his punk side. It's the way he expresses himself and stays loose. He even drew his signature hair on the photo that I had signed. * Meeting Ben Burtt. While I didn't feel the same warmth from Ben as I did from Watts and Gillard it still was a fantastic experience. Ben is one of the most important makers of Star Wars in my mind so it really was nice to have a few questions answered. * Seeing Justin's "snow" sculpture for our booth. * Watching the landspeeder fly through the Experience Hall during set-up. They were driving very quickly and the only sound you could hear was the expected whine from the engines just like in the movie. * Hanging out with friends at The Last Tour of Endor. * Showing my wife- who's not a fan- the booth and the Hall before the convention opened. It's all too rare that she allows me to share this kind of thing with her, and it was nice to see her impressed. * Watching our club make its first official appearance at a Celebration (or any convention) and looking like pros. -Campbell Help the SWGFA by buying through Amazon. |

Campbell, I would love to have met Nick Gillard, how cool! My favorite memory from CIV is the "teleconference" panel with him (he was working overseas) in which I asked a question that he loved and had a great answer to.
Someone mentioned the family friendliness and the kids. My two-year old was only there for less than three hours, but he loved it. He spent most of his time chasing Artoo and meeting Yoda (a friend with a life-size puppet that attracted a group of kids like the pied piper). He also had his own little band of paparazzi, as he was dressed as a snowspeeder pilot and kept posing with his hand possessively on Artoo, when he wasn't dancing with it! I can't wait until he's older and can last the day with me. On Sunday I loaned my son's costumes to a friend for her one- and three-year old. On the way to his autograph line, Mark Hamill caught sight of the three-year old in the snowspeeder pilot and called, "hey, that kid looks more like me than I do!" I worked as a volunteer for the costume contests (thanks, Melanie!) and got to see a lot of neat costumes up close. I also recommended my friend who is a Disney costume designer (has worked on SWW and Star Tours) as a judge, and as a result he was able to attend the show with his family. This is especially cool because I actually met him and his wife--now my best friend and my son's godmother--because we were all wearing costumes to the premier of ROTS! I had hoped to tell this story at the walk-up "Star Wars Stories", but it was one of the things that fell by the wayside when I ran out of time. Another highlight was hanging out with the Belgian Garrison guys in the Rebel Legion base. I should mention the base itself as a highlight; instead of an "info booth" it really became a landing pad for Rebel Legion members and guests from around the world. Friday morning I was among the early crowd suited up for GL's prop tour/walk through and the Belgian guys positioned me as their "living prop" next to the snowspeeder. GL never made it to our location, but the guys put me and Mark Bradley in the snowspeeder for an extended photoshoot with no crowds or stanchions in the way. Fun, fun!!

Here's a link to the video montage from my CV Day 1 pics. I have a feeling that Youtube may pull the video or strip my music b/c I received an email from them about possible copyright infringement. If that happens, I'll just pull it completely - how can you have a SW video without SW music?
In any event...Day 1 is here and the other days will get uploaded this weekend. |
