I got the holographic stitch as the emporer figure offered at Star Wars Weekends 2010 and got number 6 of 1980! I was wondering on what other collectors opinions if they think it's rarer when it has a lower number. Please reply, Chase K.

I admit to thinking it is at least kind of cool to get a lower number, but it is not THAT big of a deal to me. The only thing I really collect anymore of the Gentle Giant mini-busts, and, on average, I get a number in the middle. Still, I do have to say that every so often, on that rare occurance, I get that 'feeling' of excitement when I get a low number. This just happened at Celebration when I got the Bossk statue and it was number 31. I got one bit of art, that Star Wars theme park by Kevin Hall (I think that is his name, may be wrong), and got number 20. So, while I find it kind of neat for a moment or two, barring getting #1 or even the final one in a limited series, everything else doesn't really effect me all that much. Good question, though. Also, when something like a Pez dispenser is limited to 50,000, that's not limited at all. That's how many they made, and it's actually likely that they didn't even have demand for that many. When you're talking about a convention exclusive that's under 2000 pieces, though, that absolutely counts as limited. I didn't get that particular figure, but I think it may retain some demand because it not only is a Celebration exclusive, but it's also a popular Disney character for which there are devoted characters. I've seen mini-busts sell for a premium, maybe 25% higher, for the lowest numbers (like under 20) but it's not worth the difference to me. If I'm not mistaken, the low-number desireability comes from the assumption that the early editions will be of higher quality as molds are fresh and painters are too. In this day and age of mass-replicated quality I don't think there's much different between #1 and #3500, but some collectors care about low numbers. Which brings you back to the one truth in collectible valuation: it's only worth what someone will pay you for it. It's certainly no more rare to have #6 than to have #1237, but you might easier find someone that wanted a #6, and I'd prefer to have yours over #1237 as well. I agree about the faces but not that I dislike the style so much as I wish there were more, far too spaced out. However, he was selling additional characters for $20 a pop, so that is the reason the space was left. Kinda a bad move if you ask me. And, oddly, in interviews and such he comes off as one of the nicest and coolest people out there. I did not get this vibe from him at ALL in person, though. Still, worth the money I spent. THIS IS NOT AN EXIT.

Seems great to the ForceCast folk, though. I also have never enjoyed meeting Cat Staggs though she is very gracious by email and in interviews. On topic is the notion that these and other prints are a little-addressed way to get small edition items. I really like that there are so few people out there that have the prints that I have- and almost no one has the same combination that I have. A friend of mine agreed with me, but I'm glad to hear it from someone else. No joke, he was pretty much outright rude. Almost annoyed you would want to purchase something from him. This was when almost no one was even there. I also am with you on a one-of-a-kind piece, and trust me, I WANTED to ask him to add an additional character or two. But, again, I believe it was $20 a pop, and that, at least to me, was in no way worth it, especially given his attitude. THIS IS NOT AN EXIT.

I am surprised at how nice Hodges sounds in interviews, because I don't feel that's what I've experienced. I've never been in a conversation among friends with him, so I don't assume I really know the man but my opinion of him is one of the reasons that I've listed a print that I have of his on my trade list. This is the ONE thing I wanted by him, I got it, and that is that. His attitude alone makes anything in the future not worthwhile. In regards to jedichase - I only got the one piece that sabacc and I are discussing. There was no line at all for that. The art section, at least all the times I was there, was crowded but nothing bad. I, too, heard there WAS a rather lengthy wait on the first day for one or two primary items that people wanted, but I avoided that. THIS IS NOT AN EXIT.

The lines were out of control on the first day because they only had one register (they got another one from then on) and they really handled it poorly. To ease pressure they asked many of us if we'd like to step out of line Thursday morning and come back just before closing. They gave us times on a card and said we'd only have to wait "about five minutes" when we came back. In retrospect I don't know why I believed that. I waited for about 25 minutes, and the con had closed at this point. I needed to help close our booth for the night and head over to the TF.n party so I asked the artist whose piece I wanted if she would hold it till Friday morning. She agreed so I left the rest of the line and the artists to stay another 45 minutes. One of the artists said most of them unexpectedly waited till almost 8pm. My third line was not bad and I got a Cat Staggs print at before the show even started. I was hoping to get #47 because there was a T-47 Snowspeeder in the image, but I was far too late and was happy with a #247 (of 250). The next day I was given a tip that the other print I wanted had a small availability so I bolted out of a Main Event simulcast, headed to Chris Trevas and got #247 of his print.
