A concept I kicked around would incorporate simplified versions of the pictures below with my name and handle on one line and "Orlando System" underneath.

Who would be interested in purchasing an SWGFA nametag in the style of the ones used by the Southern R2 Builders and the 501st? You've seen them- they're on what looks to be stainless steel, look very professional, and are made by a fellow called Damien Metz. I've contacted Damien and we're currently looking into a design that might work and be distinctively ours. The price would range between $15 and $25 most likely depending on the complexity of the pin. Mark and Kay will hopefully lend us some guidance as well in the art department.

Here are a couple of examples of Damien's work. The R2-Builders one is the more expensive due to the detail and work involved to create it. For scale I'd say it's about 3-3/4" wide. Maybe a bit smaller, I just wanted to use 3-3/4" in a sentence.

Cool idea. I think the SW GFA logo would look better than the Sideshow Bob logo for the pin/badge.

Naturally I support this idea. Personally I like the idea of the palm logo with club name printed

That's great guys! Chris and I are talking with The Jawas about this and we will decide on something pretty soon. This is definitely going to happen so I really appreciate your support and your ideas. I think you can count on the GFA Empire-style logo being there. I'm hoping the palm can be incorporated, but we haven't quite figured it out. Expect more details soon.

The project lives, and at the Orlando System shindig this month we got about 10 people saying they would order a badge if given the chance. I just wrote to Damien. He responded fairly quickly previously, so I’ll likely have some more information soon. I gave him some of Mark's mock-ups to see if he’d like to take a crack at it. I asked what his turn around time was and for suggestions of materials. I think we're looking at magnetic backings rather than pins to protect clothing.

Where are we in the pin plan?

Well, I dropped the project for the last two months due to a personal issue, but I'm still very interested and we had a roomful of people that were ready to buy just a few months ago. The problem we've got now is that this guy, Damien, doesn't see a quality way for him to make these with more than one color on the backing material. For example, if we made them on a metallic background, as the examples above show, he could only print one color for our logo. I'm not impressed by this. I'd almost sooner have a glossy sticker printed that could be affixed to a pin backing.
Any ideas? -Campbell Help the SWGFA by buying through Amazon. |

I'd say the engraved look would be nicer than just a sticker on a pin back, tbh. It would also be in line for the folks that are in multiple groups (RL, Droid Builders, 501st) to have a similar badge so it doesn't look "cheaper".
That said, I'm still trying to get Damien's contact info for the droid builders badge.

If you guys don't mind my wife has someone that makes the same type of pins, I will check to see what she can do so we can make this happen. |

Not only do we not mind, that's great! The problem with Damien's participation is that he says he can't get more than 2 colors in the design. I really like the brushed metal look, though, so it'd be great to replicate that.

Hello. This is a very good idea for unity & marketing.
Do we have anything in the works for t-shirts, hats, keychains, tags, membership coins, calendars, backpacks, lanyards, mugs, USB drives...any of the promo items we always get from our jobs. Count me in for an order or to help with any planning stages when this re-launches. Marketing Idea: Anyone with good IT skills to put together a club youtube video... with even some cool flash animation?
