I have a question for the admin. How do I add an avatar to my profile? Thanks for the help.

See this is why I'm the junior honcho of this operation. Mike, have you an answer for this good man? ...or for Walt?

Alterations to your profile need to be made via your account control panel, which is linked on the top of the main page.

I hope this works for the others. The two icons I've tried to use turned out to be incredibly small. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. See what I mean? That super tiny picture by my screenname is what I'm referring to.

Instead of using Personal Icon under Account Preferences, try using My Photo under Edit Profile. And make sure the image is no larger than 60x60.

You know what irritates the fire out of me? If I forget to put a subject in, I get a message saying that it's necessary. When I hit the back button of my browser my entire message has been eaten? Is this happening to everybody? If so, this is my single biggest complaint about this new ezboard. -Campbell

If you go under Account Preferences, there is a box you can check to auto-fill the subject line when replying to a subject. That way, you only have to remember to add a subject when you create a new topic, which I hope you would do anyway.
As for going back on the browser, yeah, you'll lose everything because ezboard likes to refresh, but if you preview your posts and need to make a change, the edit box will be contained underneath so you don't have to go back. ETA: Using a preview without a subject line will not work, I just discovered, so your best bet is to just make sure you have one. Or start copying your test before you hit submit if you want to get paranoid about it. |

I chose the auto-fill option. Another satisfied customer- thanks Mike!

hm.. I tried to post a reply in the events section for the FX show and it would not let me post saying I had to be a moderator??? I was just going to post that I was planning on attending the show hopefully.

Hmm, not sure how that got set that way so I changed it back. Anybody can post in the Events section again (and 97% of all sections). Thanks for the heads up. -Campbell

Re: avatars | #13 | ||

I tried going under my account and using "my photo" or whatever to add an avatar. Now I have a nice user photo when I look at my profile, but it doesn't show up next to my username when I post. Help?
Also, is there a way to quote a post when replying? |

Well, never mind, there's my pic! So, how do I quote a post when replying?
p.s. did you know we can only submit 1 post per minute?? |

Quoting: Unlike the other boards, on this one you should copy what you want quoted, make sure ezCodes are activated in the Formatting section above your comment, then push the "quote" button to the left. A pop-up will give you a spot to paste and it'll add it (in html) to the end of whatever you've already have typed into the window. I personally type something like, "Audrey wrote:," right before the quote I've added so it appears just like it did on both previous board incarnations.
One minute: I didn't know that, but the rogue boards did that. Come on, are you in that much of a hurry? ezSupporter: There's not a huge reason to join if you're visiting Gold Communities. The biggest perk is no ads, but at the moment, the Orlando System is paying to be Gold status, which means no ads already. I joined because I knew I'd be using ezboards a lot right now. Here's a link with the official scoop. -Campbell \\ Mike, feel free to add to or correct any of my information. // |

That, and ezsupporters don't count against our page hits. I guess that would be more critical if we weren't Gold, but there ya go.
My one real annoyance with ezboards is the lack of an easy quote tool. You do have to resort to the copy and paste technique, unfortunately. |

Quote: Well, as long as there's a tool, I'm okay with it. The other method usually quoted way more than I wanted to and I had to delete what I didn't want. So either way, there are keystrokes involved. Thanks for the answers! |

Interesting feature about the ezboard- you're a year older. I looked at my profile and it said that I was an age one year more than I am. Now, my birthday's not ALL that far off, but who wants to rush these sort of things? It appears that the board calculates your age based on your birthyear only- nothing by date. I for one want to hold on to my "youth" so I cheated and put the year after. Yeah, I take this thing a little too seriously sometimes.

To crib from Campbell's suggestion in the meeting thread, it was made known at the meeting last night that not everyone knew what the deal with all the Yoda icons was. Well, those are "new message" markers, so if you see a Yoda, that means there are new messages in that particular forum or thread. This only works when you mark all the threads/forums "read" after you've read them. You do that by clicking either the "Mark all forums read" link on the main page or the "Mark forum read" link on the individual forum pages. Both links are located on the tops of the pages, next to the log in and search links.
Hope that helps! |
