Yeah I am lucky I guess, the forcast for Okeechobee is 34, but it could drop some more and freeze. Sounds like a good night to stay in and watch a SW movie

For future reference, remember that it's also best to keep your plants very well watered when it's cold. A very well hydrated plant can stand up to the cold much better than a dry one. It's refreshing to talk about something nice and clean like watering plants.

Yeah I think the weather people got it wrong. It was not as cold down here as it was supposed to be. I imagine that FL is one of the hardest places to predict weather.

Here's my weather report: My "younglings" have survived! I used extra large lawn bags to cover them (mostly the tropicals) and they came through fine. Thanks for the concern Campbell!

 I heard someone at work tell me they covered their plants and left tiny Christmas lights underneath. She said that it produced enough heat to protest the plants. -Campbell |

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know the 30s were in our night, but indeed you're right. I'm going to water my plants before I hit the hay. I don't want to shock the plants so I assume cool water is best. |

I'll look for that greenery topic in general discussion somewhere. Three of my fav plants that I've had for years are my little Sago palm, my "variegated", and a hyper-actively blossomy bright red hibiscus. The variegated is a cool deciduous yellow and green leafy shrub/tree. Sea World used to have some fantastic patches of them near the entrance to their Hospitality Building.

Unless you want to keep the sago "little", if you gradually continue to replant it in larger pots, you can maintain it at whatever size you like though typically they are slow growers.
Despite the perception they are difficult and exotic my dad used to grow them like weeds and I still have one of his. |
