I guess they are doing a animated series on the Clone Wars but the live action is not decided, unless someone has heard differant? What is everyones vote? I think seeing the rise of the empire would be cool but maybe they should go with the EU? I changed the subject to reflect that. EDIT: changed the subject so that this thread can be used to discuss all Clone Wars TV projects. -c/s EDIT '11: added the all important "The" to The Clone Wars in the title. No ones come right out and said it, but on several occasions (including by McDiarmid at the e3 DVD press junket) it's been said the it will be about a character from the original trilogy that was a cult fanorite, but who had few scenes or lines. Though it's not in vogue these days, I'd like to see an anthology series (something like the SW Tales magazine used to be) where we'd see all sorts of different cultures and characters from week to week.

It would be neat to check out different backstories and how the chararacters and their stores relate to the movie. The only thing that I have heard, it this could just be a rumor, is that it will focus on minor characters and how they apply to Episodes I through VI. Whether it's from the Clone Wars period or after ROTS. Maybe we follow a set of characters for a couple/few weeks and then move on to another set. What happens to the Jedi when they receive the warning not to return to Coruscant; to the fledgling Rebellion; etc.

In that interview, Sansweet states that the series will take place between E3 and E4 (makes sense), but that conflicts with a WonderCon report that quotes him as saying it will take place in the Classic Trilogy era. I'm inclined to believe the horse's mouth on this one and go with between E3 and E4.

"Its going to be much darker, much more character-based, and I think its going to be everything the fans always wanted the prequels to be. Theyll be one-hour episode. It takes place between Episodes III and IV. Its going to be all-new characters, maybe a few bounty hunters in there to start the series off. They seem to have writers hired but no cast yet.

It's going to be very weird seeing the Star Wars logo in front of a weekly show. I'm curious what of the traditions from the movie openings will be retained. I mean, do we need to see "A long time ago..." or a crawl for every ep? I don't think it should be exactly like the movies, but I hope they make some creative choices to identify it as a galaxy far, far away. Please Lucasfilm, don't give words to whatever serves as it's theme. Which suggests the question, who should score the show? We ain't gettin' Williams since he really doesn't do TV since the 60s passed. I vote for Joel McNeely, the guy who made the Shadows of the Empire music.

Not sure how they can guarantee this... but it sounds good to me ! 100 episode would be around 5 years - it seems for most shows. I bet the could use the Williams theme or a version of it for the opening credits...I believe the Stargate theme is the same as the one from the movie (I think?)...and Star Trek used movie theme music for its later TV shows.

"Hopefully if we can make it work and everybody's excited and watches it we will keep on going," said McCallum. The series will be set between episodes three and four of the film saga. It would cover the 20 years in the life of Luke Skywalker growing up that remains a mystery to most film-goers. McCallum said there would be "a whole bunch of new characters" and the series would be "much more dramatic and darker". This is what I was afraid of. I knew they would do the story of Luke's life growing up....It's the most logical place to go.. but it worries me. We know enough about his life growing up, and was it really that dark ? Plus, he never leaves Tattooine ! We also get to see another freakin' kid ! It will be like Young Indiana Jones all over again.... I hope its still good.. but this info worries me, I also hope its a mis-quote.

He can't learn of his origins and explore his cool new powers against villains-of-the-week for 100 episodes. Oy. I hope this isn't true. BTW, where did you read that? I'd like a link if possible.

I think at this point, I'm just hoping they got some wires crossed and are taking the fact that the series will take place between episodes III and IV to mean that it'll cover the time Luke is growing up. Yeah, technically it would be, but I see no indication that it'll be focusing on Luke.

Let's hope... seems to be some mixed messages out there.... it says we will see it in 2008 and cost 1 million per episode ! (which I doubt it will stay that way)

Miami Vice was one of the most expensive hours on TV in the mid-80s and it cost $1M per episode. I think I hope this series is distributed via syndication, like ST:NG. I don't know much about these things but I hope that would make the show less dependant on one network and more dependant on it's viewership.
