Just picked up my Best Buy Unleashed Vader, I'd gotten a raincheck the day the DVD came out because their shipment was late. Not only do I love this package- it blows the standard version away- but I also would have been happier if they all came in such a container. I'd pay another five bucks if they were all like this. Basically, the figure is in it's correct pose in a giant window cylindar about the size of a popcorn tin. I also really dig the text describing Vader's genesis on the package.

My toy run also included Wal-mart John Young (which had nothing), K-mart Florida Mall (I got an R4-P17), and KB Florida Mall (lots of those 9-packs with the silver Vader- that's $40- as compared to the $50 I pre-ordered it at online). I also went to Waldenbooks in Florida Mall which had tons of copies of the latest EMPIRE magazine. As Walt, I believe it was, said, this thing is worth the $10 price tag just for the Star Wars DVD guide. It's small in stature but giant in reference material. -Campbell

Nothing new at Target. I asked about the Shadow Trooper and was told they were out of stock, and there was no date listed that they'd come in again. Has anyone here found the Shadow Trooper?

It's going to take some luck. You may find them, but these are examples of items that typically fly off the shelves. I found all three the day before the DVD came out but only bought two. A week later, I was very surprised to see 3 of the one I'd skipped (the Sith) so I finished off my collection.

They are a well-priced ($10 for 3 figures), nicely-presented collectible, but the good news is that they are all repacks (however, the Clone pack was also a repaint). I hope you happen upon them, I'd check in both the toy and video department, I've seen these in both.

Lastly, you've got at least one more chance at something like this- the DVD release of the Clone Wars v2 at Wal-mart will give us the opportunity at 2 more special 3-pks. -Campbell

Truth is, it comes and goes in the blink of an eye. The metal selections of this year have gone over quite well and rarely sit for more than a day. Without hunting, you're odds are not favorable. You're looking in the right place- on John Young they'll be on the "hot" wall right next to the garden center (shared with King Kong and Batman at the moment) next to the figures. However, it's possible to find them, and other SW goodness on the back wall about of the way down. I've never seen them in the car/diecast aisle.

The Wal-mart on Kirkman has a little island where most of their SW stuff is sold. It's a mishmash and there is generally only one other place SW can be found (near the other action figures). However, on the day of the CW DVD release they had a big display near the self-checkouts with the DVDs and the 3-packs. I think these multi-packs look very good and have some nice colorful art, but the paintjobs on the figures look a little sub-par. I have very little temptation to open these. Still- for $10 a pop you can't beat it (Target sold CW animated figures for $6.99 each last year).

Lastly, the largely good news is that the Titanium Series will expand in 2006 and will not be a Wal-mart exclusive, it's in general release. I'm really looking forward to procuring a Jedi Attack Cruiser and a Turbo Tank.

Many people have the principles to avoid Wal-mart and I've had the loophole that I'm a toy collector (Wal-mart is the largest US seller of toys, thus they command interesting exclusives and selection). However, in the last month I've been reminded of what shoddy service they provide compared to my favorite, Target. For almost all of my non-toy purchases that I once would have gone to Wal-mart for, now I take my business to Target.

As of Wednesday night TRU had their exclusive metal-boxed SW Trivial Pursuits marked down to $29.99 (was $49.99).

I do, I do... but I guess I should wish for a better video card or gaming system first...
