Who around here collects autographs? I have a decent collection but somehow I don't consider myself an autograph collector really. If I was skipping C4 or I didn't already have Carrie Fisher autographs I'd probably buy this from StarWarsShop.

I am a casual autograph collector, but have quite a large collection that has gathered over 10 years. I prefer to get mine in person when I can, but have found myself a little burned out on it.

I personally do not have any autographs. I don't know why but it seems everytime I try I end up having to cancel.

Justin- Yes, if SWS says a product is currently unavailable it usually means it is sold out. However, sometimes things come back into stock later and the link could possibly re-open. It's happened before due to them acquiring extra stock, cancelled orders, etc.
As Sharon, I prefer to get mine in person as well. Then it's a keepsake of an experience. The burn out from me comes from the high price many celebrities charge. Also, I rarely trust places that sell autographs as I've found and have been told that I high percentage of these are fakes. I'm very careful about my sources when buying these. Perhaps the best source of autographs here in Central Florida is at Star Wars Weekends. |

I'm not sure how many celebrities still do this sort of thing. Shannon McRandle, so often referenced as Mara Jade, will sign items without charge if you send them to her with return postage! Her website is www.shannonmcrandle.com/

Between C4 and SWW, has anyone been getting autographs? I got Gary Kurtz in LA and Bonnie Piesse at MGM.

I have a couple of autographs but not really a collecter either. I got Peter Mayhew's at FX one year, and he was a jerk. I had to pay 25 and he wouldn't personalize it. He seemed bored and put out with the whole thing anyway. I got Timothy Zahn to sign all the books I had by him to date. Carrie Fisher's and here is an interesting one: I got a signed pic of Darth Vader, signed by David Prowse but it is a pic from Ep.III. So I don't know if that will make a difference in value but I thought it was funny.
I also plan to get autographs from who ever is at SWW when I go. Walt If you will not fight, then you will meet your destiny.

That really dampens my spirit when the celebrities are jerks. I've had a couple of good experiences with Mayhew. The best of these was at C2 where we sat around a table for an hour at a FanForce party. However, he and Prowse and Bullock have been at so many events I've gone to in the last 10 years that it's not exciting to see them anymore at all.
Fortunately, most of my experiences getting autographs have been very positive. I generally try to come up with one or two good questions for the celebs and have them personalize the item. This gives them something to interact with, other than the glazed look of starstruck folk, and in the case of Anthony Daniels, lets them know I'm not going to sell his autograph. |

Yeah I was really upset when I met Mayhew. Zahn was the nicest person in the world, we talked shop for like 15 minutes (much to the dismay of the people behind me) and he took the time to personalize all 6 of his SW books (thats all he had out at the time). I guess Mayhew was just tired of all the crap he puts up with, just disappointing.

While they aren't autographed (yet) I picked up a handful of 8x10s at Official Pix recently. If you've not checked there stock lately, it's worth a look. Cyber-Monday brought a free shipping special where I ordered one of their new Indiana Jones selections.

Im a huge autograph collector. For the most part everyone seems cool, every now and then someone will be sick or hungover and might not be as nice as they should, but hey everyone has a bad day now and then. Of course theres always partying with them after the con hours. CIV was great, was riding around in a limo with Richard Laperimeter (sp). I also like to get them in person instead of buying them, that way you have a something to remember.

That makes sense. It's much more interesting to have a story about the souvenir.
Also there are few sources that I would trust for authentic autographs so it's great to know when and where your item was signed. |

I just got my order in from the OfficialPix 11x14/16x20 sale. I ended up with 48 photos total. I really don't know what I was thinking!
I sent out a through the mail request to Frank Oz this morning. After seeing so many successes returned yesterday, I just couldn't resist. I really hope I get my blue Vis-A-Vis pen back that I sent along with the photo. It's important to me to have the photo signed with that particular type of pen, so if I have to hunt down another one, so be it.
Some of my latest acquisitions: OfficialPix Museum Photo set - matching numbers Fisher and Hamill #'s 46/50. ![]()

48 photos!?! I think you're going to need a bigger binder... I think you're a nut, BUT I also recognize that it was a really great opportunity to get
those enlargements at a very good price and that these will be part of a longterm project for autographs.
Great luck on the Frank Oz!! I hope to get some tips on this sort of thing from you and Mike G. and Aaron in the near future. As for the Museum photos. Those are just beautiful. I've admired them since OPX rolled them out some time ago. Great rare promo shots in a fantastic format- and now autographed. Good work. The Fisher shows the resolve of her character and the Hamill one could be a promo Luke shot for an underground holozine article about the face of the new Rebel Alliance. Thanks for bringing these last two items to the meeting this weekend. It was a real treat to see them. |

Doing the TTM stuff can be really fun. Just never send something you are not willing to lose forever. I've gotten Wesley Snipes and Cameron Diaz via mail.
It's too bad Official Pix was not together back when I first started doing autograph stuff. They really have some wonderful pics.

I do like those black and white photos. 48 photos ! That's a lot. You could wallpaper a room with those. I've bought two from OPX - a Hamill and
Christopher Lee. Not black and white.

I tallied up the total and I bought around $650.00 worth of photos for $380.00. Wallpaper with OP photos? I love that idea and it might just happen eventually.

Good luck with the Frank Oz attempt. While I was still living in NYC, I managed a Physical Therapy practice that had a bunch of celebrities come through. Frank
Oz was a patient for a while and I can honestly say that any attempt at being friendly with him was wasted and he was generally a douche, which was extremely
disappointing. I understand that people are there to get better, but most were overly friendly and accommodating with conversation. When my co-worker and I
brought up SW, he did not want to talk about it and made it clear.
