Events/ opportunities to wear costumes!

Posts: 46 Sun, Jul 16, 2006 9:59 AM Tusken Raider	Tags : None (I'm cross-posting this from the 'events' section- hope that isn't a problem!) Having 'debuted' my Garindan costume at Star Wars Weekends, I'm eager to wear it at an event where I can walk around more 'in character' (rather than just marching the parade route). The next sure-fire event is Vulkon in November, but I'm wondering about these other cons: www.orlandocomicbookconvention.com/ www.orlandocon.net/index.php comicbookconventions.com/.../index.htm Granted, they are mostly comic-related, but these kind of events always seem to have at least a few stormtroopers, etc. I was wondering if any OSers are planning on going (in costume), or if anyone has been to one of these in the past? Posts: 925 Mon, Jul 17, 2006 1:07 PM	Mark, have you been to a Vulkon before? Scott and I used to go all the time when I was in Starfleet, that's how I got most of my personalized autographs. Isn't it mostly Trek? The other events I don't know anything about. Maybe the non-costumers will have some insight for you in the events section, I think some of them have been before. Miss chatting with you!

Posts: 46 Mon, Jul 17, 2006 2:04 PM Tusken Raider	I've been to a lot of Vulkons- in recent years, I have gone more to display my studio-scale models in the model/prop room. While it is 'mostly' Trek, there is always a good represention of all sci-fi costume-wise. You typically see Star Wars, Galactica, and Babylon 5 represented as well as Trek. Its a show where you could wear just about anything SF-related. If these comic shows are anything like Megacon, I'm guessing you see the same kind of thing (I hope!) Mark

Her son was turning five and she was throwing him a Star Wars birthday party. I thought it was kind of cool how she did a simple search on-line for Star Wars and Tampa and my name came up. Little did she know! The whole premise of the party was that all the children were to be put through the Jedi Trials. At the end of the training, the last thing they had to do was use the Force to open the garage door. What they did not know was that Darth Vader would be waiting behind the door ready for battle! I've considered renting costumes for the dads to wear, but I am concerned about the authenticity of said costumes. Know anyone around Orlando north east area that would want to drop by our Mos Eisley Cantina for a bit and freak some kids out? Thanks!

Unfortuantely, not a lot of costumers frequent these boards currently. I'll ask around, though. You may want to look on the 501st.com site.
