This is my pet thread in hopes that I can find anybody else that's a fan of Miami Vice. Anyone out there have any memories of the show or been watching reruns? I've got the first four seasons on DVD and have really been enjoying them. Here's the Miami Vice E! True Hollywood Story to bring back the days of no socks and 2-day beards. And if you can stand even more. Here's a cheesy Pepsi Commercial with Don Johnson and Glenn Frey that exhibits the country's fascination with the show.

I have thought about picking up the dvds, but I never seem to get around to watching any of the tv shows on dvd that I pick up. MV was a great show for its time and better than most of the stuff that is on tv today.

It's the one that has a few bonus features and a great premiere. Still, the best of Vice is probably seasons 2 and maybe Season 3. That's where they really got their stride. Season 4 is often cited as having declining quality, but I just watched an episode with Ving Rhames which stands up to most films in quality. However, s4 also features the inexplicable James Brown/alien episode and the beginning of Crockett's "amnesia."

I was one of those that had Crockett's shoes with no socks and I even dressed like that to a few school dances in junior high. I even wanted to someday own a white Ferrari, but after learning more about those cars , I got a white MR2 instead. I haven't seen it since it originally aired. What other show's theme music could top Jan Hammer?

Yes, I know I'm living in a bizarre world. [What could you expect from a guy who lives in a house full of toys?] And if the Miami Vice Theme is Star Wars, Crockett's Theme is ther Imperial March. If you've not heard that track, YouTube it- it's a beautiful piece of music that's very evocative of the era. As for the clothes, I guess that was the last time I costumed. In high school I wore deck shoes with no socks, had a short drug-dealer pony-tail, and even had a white Italian waiter's jacket. Ross and Chandler didn't have anything on me.

There is a reference to Orlando in the pilot episode, but next to nothing for the next four seasons. I was actually disappointed. And costuming Miami Vice... I'll have to see if anybody's doing that these days. Hmm, interesting idea. That's an incentive to get in shape. In my perfect world, I'll be cruising Celebration V in a pastel suit with espadrilles.

It retails for $200, but if you play your cards right you could get all 100 hours of it for just a bit over $100.

Well, extras anyway. Don and .. Phillip was it? (Tubbs) were actually pretty awesome. I dig it. Even have a t-shirt. It's a wanna-be retro Target shirt but still I wear it cos I'm more than trendy. On a side note, the movie was a little weak but I thought it was an EXCELLENT homage. It really felt like an extended episode.

It's also by Michael Mann, and in some ways captures the old show better than the Miami Vice movie. Still, I like it all. Mann is so technical and thoughtful about the way he shows police and criminals. Many scenes have a documentary feel to them. There are lots of little corny things about the old show, but all in all I think it holds up pretty well- at least the first few seasons. One of my favorite episodes is the second season opener which actually covers some of the same ground as the recent movie. Don't stop at season 1- at least watch the first couple of hours of season 2. They may play the same character but they do it well. xD I've been meaning to finish the show but I wasn't working an office job that had me in two Saturdays a month when I started. Lulz, some music is just timeless. I actually have Crockett's theme as a ringtone on my phone and I use it for my alarm. :B
