Top Ten |

What're your top ten films of all time? Or maybe of this year. Or maybe just one's featuring Kevin Smith. It's your choice, you figure out the parameters. -Campbell

I got a list for ya. how about the our all time favorite guilty pleasure movie. You know the one movie we love and all of our friends laugh at how stupid it is. Mine would have to be Hackers (with Angelina Jolie and Jonny Lee Miller). I love it but it is absolutely horrible.

Hackers would have to be a classic C movie, not even good enough for a B. LOL My horrible movie that everyone laughs at would be Kung Pow. I think its great I was about the only one who saw it in the theater and the only one laughing too.

Don't know what would have to be my worst guilty pleasure movie.....okay "Steel Magnolias" Weeza just gets me, her and the Olympia Dukakis character together, if the movie was just them I'd be happy.....It's sick I know
My all time favorites.....I'll get back when I work up a list...... |

Top Ten Films | #4 | ||
|
My favorite films, out of order so I didn't have to order them:
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead Joe vs The Volcano The Hudsucker Proxy Pulp Fiction The Shawshank Redemption Get Shorty sex lies and videotape The Philadelphia Story O Brother Where Art Thou The Princess Bride and a few runners up: Angel Heart LA Story The Last Temptation of Christ Kafka The Color of Money house rules: For some reason I always treat the SW and Indy trilogies as a separate beast, outside this top 10. If I didn't I'd probably have to wedge e4, e5, and Raiders somewhere in there. |

Walt, I like every movie on your list.
Mike, I forgot all about Love Actually and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I'll cheat and stick the latter in the no man's land category. Can't have LotR, Indy, and SW overpopulating my list. |

My list hasn't been updated in a while, but I'm pretty sure I haven't seen any movies lately that would crack the top ten.

Re: Top Ten Films | #9 | ||

Okay here goes off the top of my head......and in no particular order because I can't think that much at the moment.
I will exclude both SW and LotR. Unless all the films are counted as one respectively, they must stand together away from any list. Harry Potter will stand with them. Nightmare Before Christmas Edward Scissorhands Stargate Dangerous Liasons Color Purple Donnie Darko Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (original) Mary Poppins The Shining Sophie's Choice Since I just allowed my brain to spit forth whatever came first I'd have to say this is a good cross section of my favourites. One note, Mary Poppins is the first Disney film I ever remember seeing and remains the favourite overall but if you asked my animate fav would be Bambi or Aladdin (it's a tie). |

See now I've thought too much.....and there's not enough room in 10. So let's add in 10 1/2 = Xmen United, 10 3/4 = Young Frankenstein (well poodoo) then I have to add Blazing Saddles and Space Balls.....stop

My Top Ten...
(No significant order) 1. Donnie Darko 2. Boondock Saints 3. The Royal Tenenbaums 4. Braveheart 5. Empire Records (A given for any music dork.) 6. High Fidelity (Another given for music dorks.) 7. The Back To The Future Trilogy 8. Jurassic Park (A long-time fave, I had most of the toys.) 9. Pirates of the Carribean 10. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas I figure for me Star Wars, Indy, and LOTR are a given. Which makes this list more of a 'top ten when someone borrows my Star Wars DVD's.' |

Laura, you must be the first female I've ever known who not only likes Spaceballs, but lists it in her top ten! Usually I can only talk about the movie with other guys as we scratch and spit.

I Heart Geekgirls | #14 | ||
|
My ex-girlfriend was really into Spaceballs. Those ladies are out there....
Wonderful to see The Philadelphia Story on somebody else's list. I periodically use the name CK Dexter Haven as a screenname. And Dead Again, few of us are really familiar with Kenneth Branagh's second film. Laura, have you seen Angel Heart? It's fun to compare and contrast the stories. Even the character names are similar- Mike Church/Harry Angel. That was also one of Robin Williams's first stand out cameos. |

I like Men in Tights too (and the Mel Brooks movie - hah, knew that was coming!) but Spaceballs is my favorite since it's a spoof of SW. I haven't seen Angel Heart. Is that the one with Mickey Rourke? I didn't know Robin Williams was in that.

Angel Heart | #18 | ||
|
Angel Heart is the one with Mickey Rourke (and DeNiro and Lisa Bonet). I was unclear above- I liked Robin Williams's small character role as the smoking butcher in Dead Again.

Re: Angel Heart | #20 | ||

I'm not a big Mickey Rourke fan so I haven't seen that one. I forgot about Robin William's cameo! He was good in that. And LA Confidential on Jose's list (did I get the right new person with their login name?). Good choice!
