I'm still using CDs in CD Players but I'm a dinosaur that's never actually held an Ipod or whatever's new this week. Anyhoo, the two albums that have been on repeat most of the night have been the soundtrack to Ocean's Twelve and the record Celtic Woman. Ocean's Twelve is a payoff to all the hip promise the movie makes (but fails to deliver in the end). Celtic Woman is a group of Irish singers performing a sort of Greatest Hits of Celtic music with covers of Enya, Clannad, Sarah Brightman, etc.

My musical taste casts a pretty wide net, too, but I've never even heard of Neutral Milk Hotel or Grandaddy. I look forward to learning from this thread. In my car I have Sabacc's Absolutely Best of Star Wars (patent pending) and here in the house it's Jon Hassell's Fascinoma.

Listened to a few short clips of Jon Hassell and must delve into his music more......kind of imagine listening too it cruising in a starship Dave...... I'm sorry I'm not familiar with any of yours but will have to take a listen This week has been a little weird for me and a little depressing..... strangely when I'm depressed I tend to listen to softer slower and more depressing music. It actually makes me feel better. So what particular songs...... Well I wrote these lengthy descriptions of songs and artists which I decided to spare you. It's all gone. Anyway I've been listening mostly to my personal compilation cd's. There's too many artists to list them all.

You might know him best from his theme music to the show The Practice, which is a remix of a piece he did for an early 90s album, City: Works of Fiction. I have about a dozen of his albums including the curiously titled, The Surgeon Of The Nightsky Restores Dead Things By The Power Of Sound. Sounds like a chapter from a Joseph Campbell book.

I'm listening to The Best of Cole Porter (2004) a real mix of good and not so great versions of the man's signature songs. The standout track is Anything Goes, a 50-year-old recording by a lady named Helen Merrill. She makes a 10-second comment at the end that defines sex kitten* and puts me under a spell. I don't think I've ever used that term before.

It's Ennio Morricone's score to the amazing film starring Jeremy Irons and Robert DeNiro. This music stirs the soul and brings to mind the simple beauty and tragedy of the picture.

It has a classical sound but, exotic at the same time. I've been listening to the EXILE album (by Jack Wall) this week. If you want to check it out go to Amazon.com and listen to some clips. Numbers 1, 7 and 12 are my fav!

Right now when I go to sleep I alternate between Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway and The Killers album. If you told me 4 years ago I'd be listening to Kelly Clarkson, I would have laughed in your face. Amazing how things change, huh?

Posts: 6068 Sat, Feb 11, 2006 5:08 AM Consul - Orlando System Baron Admin	While I've been let down by some recent Crystal Method, and they did the worst concert I've ever attended last year, some of their stuff ruh-hocks! A mix CD of their stuff off of Vegas and a few extra tracks like the Doctor Who theme makes me want to drive at about 120 mph. Currently in my player is something quite the opposite that I got for a gift yesterday- Daniel Lanois's Belladonna. Semi-ambient countrychill music.
