I personally can't live in fear of the craft exploding during launch and despite all the flak Nasa regularly gets I still think they take most precautions possible. There's far more things to be worried about. Of course once in space it is a ten year journey to Pluto so for now we can only wait. I will be interested when things do start coming back to us.

Though I don't regularly pay close attention to specific missions I have watched a little on the recent Stardust capsule return. I'm always interested on new discoveries in space even if they mean reevaluating what I/we thought before.

I try to keep up a little with the ongoing findings on mars. Almost everyday we learn something new and seemingly contradicting. We always have so much more to learn and hopefully understand correctly.

Recently in Discovery magazine I read an article on a couple specificly credited with/but oft ridiculed theory there was no single Big Bang but that the universe is in a constant state of contracting and expanding. Understanding some of the basic theories in space physics one could understand why this would be questionable but something about it appeals to me personally. Also since humans once they come to believe something, esp. as a whole or society, they really really don't want to let go.

I haven't seen one in awhile but working nights I could usually go out for a few minutes and watch the metoer showers when I knew they were happening. The big one a number of years ago was so awesome, like 10 or more a minute. The most awesome one I've ever seen also lasted the longest. It burned green then blue before fizzling out white at the last fraction of a second. I was like "OMG did you see that, did you see that" to my friend who didn't but I kept saying it. I've also seen one burn a reddish orange. They're all awesome to me though. So long as they never land on my head.
