Chatter & Tweets |
Lead | ||

Here's a dropspot for random conversation and commentary. Once, about 12 parsecs ago, there was a notorious discussion thread called, January Meeting, that meandered all over the place for nearly a year. This is in that tradition. Anything goes.

Also don't forget that nifty chat room that exists, linked on the front page. Java required.

Most notably, I think we've lost a discussion thread with suggestions for the boards. I think we've covered most of the suggestions but feel free to add more to the Feedback and Discussion section. -Campbell

It's no cause for fireworks, but Mike created this board on the 21st of October, so, though there weren't many takers in the first couple of weeks, we've been up and running here for a full month!

Ever since just before Thanksgiving, this place has been dead, dead, dead, dead, dead.

It is as you have foreseen. Based on your conclusions I fear 2005 may be over for us, 2006 may be the rebirth.
As for me, there's only so much talking I can do with no one listening. |

Re: Chatter | #10 | ||

Ever since Thursday, I've been sick. Thursday was spent mostly in bed. Friday I was about half out of bed. Saturday and Sunday were a little better, but I'm still coughing, sneezing, and hacking up copious amounts of mucus at least once an hour. I ran out of tissues and since I have a limited supply of t.p. right now (been a while since I've gone shopping) I had to resort to using paper towels (which there seems to be plenty of). I've gone through 2.5 rolls so far, but my roomie bought me a box of tissues, so I'm laying off the paper towels . . . for now.
My supervisor actually called to check up on me. I don't think I'll be going to work tomorrow either. So that'll be 4 days that I've missed (I was scheduled off Thursday). Technically I'm supposed to be able to produce a doctor's note to miss that much time, but I don't think I'm sick enough to warrant going to the doctor. I'm better now than I was Thursday and Friday, that's for sure. The issue really is the fact that I drive for a living and I don't think I'm up for that, especially on a boat which requires extra focus and concentration above and beyond normal driving. That and if I go into one of my hacking fits while driving, I could put the boat into a wall and nobody wants that. Honestly, if I had a desk job, I would have dragged my ass in Saturday and Sunday, possibly even Friday (that was an iffy day), but I don't so rather than risk damaging property and/or people, I choose to miss work. It may hurt the operation since they are now down a person, but I figure that is better than me coming in and risking putting a stop to the operation because I couldn't pilot the boat properly or keep on schedule because I had to rest or something. In the meantime, I'm restless since all I've seen for the past four days is the inside of my room. I'm eager to return to work (gotta make money, yo), but I want to make sure I'm good enough to drive for 8 hours before I do. Maybe one more day. This is all kinda ironic considering I just received my yearly review last Tuesday and one of the two negative comments I received (my review was 95% favorable) was regarding my attendance. Eesh. That and we just had a critical person quit so they're hurting even more. I feel bad about that, but what am I gonna do? I am not well. I don't know why I typed all that. I guess because I've been staring at the walls for four days and am desperate for human contact. Hello out there!!! *sigh* Time for bed. |

Sheesh, Mike, that stinks. Hope you build your immunity soon, I know being outside in this cold weather isn't going to help.
It's uncanny, though. When I got to work yesterday I was fine. A few minutes later I had a sneezing fit and progressively got sicker and sicker so that now I've got a full blown cold. I don't even remember the last day I called out sick, but I did today. Luckily, tomorrow begins a planned week off so I'll certainly have time to recuperate. However, I hope I'm not sick most of the time I'm off. Wash your hands and take your vitamins, folks! -C |

Not sure how many of the old guard are around anymore, but those of you that remember my friend and downstairs neighbor, ex-Orlando Syster Melanie, here's some big news. She's getting married! While on vacation in Napa Valley yesterday her boyfriend Bill popped the question. Congratulations, Melanie!

Funny you should say that. Very oddly, she's going to tell him in two weeks that he has three months to find a new place to live. Yes, I proofread that sentence, and yes, it's what I'm told.

Is she going to make him pay all the back rent he owes her or is she simply writing that off at this point? Should I perhaps ask her this myself so I don't bore people here on the boards?

Over 50% of the posts on these boards, nearly 270, belong to one Mr. Campbell. The next highest post count is still under 100. No wonder he got rid of post counts next to the user's name.

Re: Campbell: The Pest Friend | #18 | ||

You know, that's very true. I'm not trying to accomplish anything but, a) keep a record of certain events (like movies I've watched or collectibles I've acquired), and b) keep this community going. One person that has since essentially left the group complained that there was no reason to check the boards because it was just a conversation between two or three people. Well, yes, that's true if people like her/him don't join in. That's that person's decision, but I was disappointed because he/she decided not to contribute because others were not contributing. Dudes! If we build it, they will come. You have to start some conversation to have conversation, and you have to keep it up to keep it alive. -Campbell

Hey, I started the Star Wars Haiku thread. I threw my hat into the ring.
Mixed metaphor? I don't even know what that means. |
