I hate to say it, but I liked his performance in III so much* that it earns my vote. I really like the progression of Obi-Wan.
*there is one scene that makes me cringe, but overall he's fantastic. |

I don't know if I'm getting cynical or just more cognizant in my old age, but when I watch the prequels I'm always aware of the actor behind the part. However, Mark Hamill IS Luke Skywalker to me, so that's why he got my vote. Logical? Probably not, but that's why.

Just wondering, who else could even be considered in this poll? I know they are supporting, but I imagine Billy Dee Williams, Liam Neeson, and Ian McDiarmid to be the closest runners-up.

Ewan McGregor would have to be one of my favorite leading men. I thought that he did a great job as protraying a younger Kenobi. I also think that Harrison Ford is right up there.

I really like the work of Harrison Ford, and love his performances in SW and ESB. I used to be irritated that Harrison Ford never wanted to return to the role of Han, after expressing interest in more Indiana Jones work, and even reprising his Jack Ryan role.
In Return of the Jedi I see why. Ford says that it's because there's no more development that Han can make. I say it's his performance and almost solely comedic role in the final episode that falls short. Ford did not want Han to return in Jedi and I actually wish they'd granted his wish. I do realize that his lines are funny at times, but if you take the haze of off your RotJ viewing, lines like "short help is better than no help" is no worse than the stuff of Jar Jar. |

That is true about Solo returning for ROTJ. He said that he wished that they killed him off and that would have been it for him. But you are right Sabacc, his lines were no worse that anything JarJar said and we did get to see Leia and Him quit playing coy and hookup. Which helps with the Expanded Universe Novels.

I'd vote for James Earl Jones' voice work! And I agree that Ewan was fantastic, especially in closely approximating someone becoming Alec Guiness while making the part his own. But for sheer leading man studliness, my vote is for the scruffi looking nerfherder.

Wow, everyone loves Ewan! THat's cool. But come one...the whole saga is all about Vader!!
Of coarse, when I was little, if anyone asked, I would tell them promptly that I was a jedi...just like Luke!! |
