Yeah, but the only Jedi in existence would be Luke and Luke isn't exactly reknowned across the galaxy, so I doubt he could prevent a trial in the New Republic (or wherever) and subsequent execution unless he resorted to unlawful measures.

I think that he wouldn't exactly be forgiven, but he would go off to a remote life away from everything and would be forgiven by his children. Or something like that...

I agree, I like a choice between the two given. He was forgiven by Luke and apparently Yoda and Obi-Wan so there is room for that concept in the Jedi world obviously.
