I'm considering purchasing a Short Round baseball cap and have done a bit of research to find that it's a '20s or '30s New York Giants hat. The picture below shows the closest I can find but I don't know how I'd add the pinstripes.
Any ideas?

Does anyone within the sound of my posts do any Indiana Jones costuming?

I assume you have checked the MBL website/store? I got a national championship hat from a few years ago for my uncle's Christmas present last year from
there. I can't find the confirmation email at the moment but it should be easy to find with Google. Plus from there you can link to individual team merch
sites.

I had forgotten that I'd checked there, but I now notice that the "recently viewed items" were what I'd previously shopped for. They do
indeed have some very old styles like I'm looking for, but nothing right on. Thanks for the hint, though.
Further research suggests that the hat Short Round wore was not "official" which makes sense in 1935 Shanghai. Interestingly, though the logo is positively for the New York Giants (now the San Francisco Giants) the novelization and other sources claim that Shortie wears a Yankees cap. |

After seeing your Darth Maul cap I have no doubt of it. Hmm, this is something I may follow up on soon. Thanks.

I just received the hat that's in the photo above and am very happy with it. It fits Pin very well and just needs stripes to make it look like a clean
version of Short Round's cap.
Funny thing was that a day or two after I ordered it, at the TRU midnight sale, I saw a little Asian kid wearing a really bad looking NY Giants cap with a white bill. I'd never seen anybody wear one of these, so to see a kid have one so soon after I started this project was odd. Eventually, post-stripes, I may age the cap and make a display with my better fedora. Either way, I'm looking forward to going out with Pin so we can sport our Temple of Doom headwear. Dare I eventually seek out a Henry Jones, Sr.'s weird chapeau? |

By the way, anyone looking for an Indiana Jones fedora, the midgrade version is available at the Adventure Outpost IJ store at Disney's Hollywood Studios
but various models can be found at Shepler's Western Wear in Festival Bay*.
* according to the manufacturer's website. |

In my opinion go to indygear their forum is full of tons of info on everything.
On the hats I would advise to save some cash and get a penman hat. It's ten times more accurate and will last a lot longer. |

I've got to say, I'm very happy with my Disney Indy hat. It's the high end on they used to sell made of "Genuine Fur Felt" and fits perfectly. I've also got a low-grade Disney version made of "Genuine Wool" that looks nice, but feels pretty cheap. So I'm set on hats for a while, though I still haven't striped my New York Giants ballcap to match Short Round's yet.
If money weren't so tight, my next purchase would be a Todd's Costumes bullwhip. -Campbell Help the SWGFA by buying through Amazon. |
