Several of us have mentioned an interest in going to TRU by Florida Mall (and several have no interest at all). Here's the countdown clock and a thread for us to discuss our plans. Sharon, think you might go? I think you're the only person I've heard from that may be going. I'll probably go since it's been three years since my last rollout and I like to see huge aisles of Star Wars crap!

In 1999, the line at the TRU West Oaks wrapped around the parking lot and we were let in in groups of about 15 every few minutes. In 2002 I went to Wal-mart
Kirkman; there was a crowd, but nothing exciting. For e3 in '05 it was chaos at Wal-mart East Colonial (where Kyle and I started) then we moved on to see
the Florida Mall TRU aftermath.
I'm not sure what this will be like as I'd imagine the biggest audience for this will be kids, not collectors. Maybe midnight won't bring kids out so much, and maybe cartoon toys won't mean as much as a movie. I really don't know and won't be surprised by a busy or slow night. I just want to see the spectacle of aisles' worth of SW stuff again. One thing I know from experience, almost nothing is going to be hard to find six weeks later. There will be desirable things that disappear that night, but it'll all show up later- often on sale. In '99 it was Darth Maul stuff, in '02 it was backgrounds inserted in basic figures (these didn't return, but are really just a packaging variation) and in '05 it was Target's Lava Vader (ick) and Wal-mart's illusive Early Bird Kit reproduction. |

I would like to go but depends on whether or not my 5 yr old will be home. I am not sure he will be able to stay up and my wife will out of town that weekend.
So it will be a last minute decision for me.

Though I have to work til 9pm that night and have to be back at work at 9am the next morning, I probably will jjust for the experience just lots of SW like Campbells said. I'm usually up really late anyway. |

I will be there, but I will be late.
 I work till 11:30 tomorrow
night and I'm going to do everything can to get out early. It gets better. I work at 7am on Saturday morning. It's the perfect storm of how to have a
bad weekend, and it just came together by accident. Am I letting that stop me? Not a chance. See you there!

you may miss out on is the excitement of tonight and the figures that sport the sticker "first day of issue."

I had a great time. Talked to Sharon and from a distance saw Bob. Pin and I waited for only 30-40 minutes. Artoo stayed in the car, but she came, too. All the
figures were pretty much gone by the time we got in, but I picked up a few. They only had a small amount of Falcons and I had a shot at one but passed.
Went to Wal-mart afterwards and got a lot more figures and a Clone Starfighter, which I like a LOT. They had tons of BMFs but I'm waiting for some incentive like a coupon or a little sale. The best toy I got was actually not SW- I picked up the wonderful Mola Ram Mighty Mugg with flaming heart and what appears to be the skull of from Stitch on his head. Hilarious and cool. Highlights: Talking to people in line. Hearing the excitement about Star Wars. Seeing a falling star as I left the building. |

I took your advice and waited until the next morning when I had a little time. Not as much fun, but did not have to wait in a crowd. I did arrive early enough
to see my local Target just starting to put things out. What happend to stocking over night ?

I missed all of the excitement but did stop at the Walmart in Altamonte today. They had plenty of figures, about 10 of the BMF ($150....holy cow), and plenty
of the other vehicles. I ended up picking up 2 figures (animated Anakin and Obi-Wan). I understand the Falcon is over 2 feet big, but $150 for a Hasbro toy?
Yikes....I guess the cost of inflation hasn't really affected some folks lately.

Yeah, Mark, that's odd that they didn't stock overnight. That's what my Target always does.
Kyle, I'll be buying that BMF soon, but for the same reason, I'm going to wait for a sale. While I don't think this will go on clearance, I also don't think we'll have any trouble finding it through the holidays. Sharon, no worries about the pins. Them's the breaks. Artoo was with us so we walked her around the parking lot looking for your green machine. We'll catch you soon enough- hopefully at the Clone Wars opening. |

In addition to having fun seeing my friends, I also saw things that reminded me how much I've come to dislike certain aspects of collecting. Scalpers,
speculators, and guys that forgot to bathe.
Store employees that give
funny/dirty looks if you are buying SW toys.
