Anyone read any of the Indiana Jones books? The covers of recent reprints make them look pretty enticing so if there's a break in books I want to read
I'll eventually get to them. I read the movie novelizations back in the 80s and just finished the KotCK novelization.
All in all, it's nothing to write home about. It covers all the bases but adds virtually nothing to the movie. One part that did please me was the justification of my theory about Spalko's death. In the movie her head explodes causing many people to think her head blew up after receiving too much information. In the movie you can see there's likely more to it because the "visitor" standing next to her takes a very aggressive posture before "overloading" the Russian. I suggest this was for her arrogance and that Indy's clan was scooped up by the water to thank them for returning the skull. The book adds that the upload from the visitor to Spalko was aggressive and in fact was turning her brain tissue to crystal. When the whole thing was filled there was nowhere but out for this light/knowledge/energy to go so it reflected outwards charring her skull. The movie explodes her head for extra gore.
This was an average revisit to the movie that I really liked and I would not suggest anyone not really "jonesing" for an Indy fix pass it up.
