Well it finally happened. After another round of layoffs today at the Tampa Tribune, this time 78 people including myself were let go.
Things should be ok for a while. With unemployment and the severance from the Trib. Needless to say I will not be purchasing too much anytime soon. Kind of sucks too because I was getting close to having enough for a full size Boba Fett helmet. Heck know I can't even get the scaled version. Oh well right.

On the up side I'll get to spend more time with my girls. God willing this will be a bump in the road to my next adventure in the work place. I'm trying to keep my head held high, but of course this is day 1. We will see at day 100 how things are. Oh and Campbell, it's doubtful I'll be able to purchase those figures and whatnot from you at the moment. Sorry.

Thanks guys. Actually I wouldn't worry about the death of the newspaper any time soon. The problem with the newspapers, all over the US, is not in readership but in advertising. The Tribune's readership is just fine if not growing but when the mom and pop type stores can no longer advertise not to mention the lose of big companies such as Circuit City...well you can see how that would effect the newspaper industry as a whole. No matter how much digital media my be growing it will never take the place of print, at least not in the near future. The money in advertising in the digital format just isn't there.
