SWGFA Homepage |

I've always liked the way the Orlando System and the SWGFA have run things strictly off of a message board but recently I've been wondering if it would
be a good idea to have a proper home page for the GFA. I'm not the person to create this but I'd like to hear opinions on whether or not this would
help or hinder us in getting people to stop in and spend some time getting to know about the group. Further, if anyone is willing and able to create such a
page, please put your name in the hat. In any case, the message boards would remain.

I'm in total agreement. I thought I had brought this up before, but maybe it was just a thought that never left my head. I'd like to see a "front
page" if you will. We could have links to our own photo album, reference websites and maybe sponsors even.

That's not a bad idea to bump this as it's something I hadn't thought about in weeks. Roman, wanna build a homepage?

Well.. I guess that's that. I'd never built one but I assume by your reply it's quite involved and since I dont have the experience it'd be
difficult. Interest is no problem tho.. is there a guide or book or manual for that?

Anyone else have any interest in building us a homepage? The message boards are great, but especially with CV looming, a quick stop webpage makes a lot of
sense to me. I'm envisioning something where we can post stories and potentially post ads for local businesses that might support us. Also, some online
merchants will allow us to become affiliates so that we can earn money for future projects.

I was just looking at the main page of these boards and seeing the individual logos (the Treasure Coast logo will join the image very soon) and wishing I could
click on each one. While that's not possible here, I would definitely like to see that on our eventual homepage. So you'd go to SWGFA.com, possibly
read the "headlines" on the main page then click on one of the clubs in the logo to go straight to their section. There would also be a button
clearly marked going to the main message board page, which we'd likely use more often.

That would be great and I am still working on getting us a web site I will talk to that person and find out what he needs to get this going. And if anyone else
has something in the works or know someone who does web sites let us know. We need to make it happen as soon as we can so we can get exposure out there to draw
in more people.

I realize this may not necessarily fit this thread but as a thought it occurred to me we have logos for Orlando System and Tampa Collectors but we do not have
a logo for the Treasure Coast though they do have their own seperate forum. Shouldn't they be included? One similar in style to the others with a ship if
they'd like to think about which to use to represent. Maybe I'll dig out my old work and throw some examples out (though I know there are some
exceptionally capable people out there) I thought of this because I'm looking into the cost of patches being made both for the GFA (logo) and individual
clubs.
For individual groups I may know someone who can do the embroidered patches for relatively cheap but can't get a hold of her til after the holidays, hopefully before the meeting.

The Treasure Coast have gotten a new logo, now featured on their Discussion forum. It was created by Mark and Kay,
The Jawas of Forcecast fame. We're working on getting the main header to include their logo and want to see more and more logos added as we get more groups
intertwined.

Thanks, patches would be cool and I need to look into tee-shirts to for the Treasure Coast club. I am on a campaign to recruit members for the Treasure Coast
Club and the Alliance and everywhere I can post information about us. I have information already posted on allot of forums right now and I am going to step it
up a notch soon I am on a mission.

I spent a couple of hours with Bad Apple Comics President Shawn Schinault yesterday afternoon and he's interested in building us a website. He's
waiting for some Adobe software to arrive in the mail but then can start working on it in his free time. The great thing is that he's looking to build his
portfolio so this is a perfect opportunity.
What sort of functions do you want to see out of a homepage? I haven't thought too much about this, but I'm picturing a main page, pages for each club, links as affiliates to merchants to raise funds, and possibly some member profiles(?). -Campbell Help the SWGFA by buying through Amazon. |

The Club logos can be links to each club page. That is all I can come up with right now.
